Camaros with GTA wheels?

I've tried searching but barring randomly finding something, I'm not coming up with much. Can you guys post some pics up of thirdgen Camaros with GTA (16" mesh) wheels? Preferably black wheels/chrome lip. I'm just wondering if it'll look good on my car. Thanks

if you like the GTA rims then they look just as good on camaro's as they do on 'birds.

300 third gen photos and i dont have one. i can say that i saw it before though. gm did a white prototype camaro that had a 6spd black cross lace rims and black racing stripes. one of the best looking third gens in my opinion.

I find it odd that I can't find a pic of it at all... I mean the wheels will fit right and everything wouldn't they?

I thought that would look awful but it looks very good. I like the old school black center with a chrome rim, reminds me of the old Chevy Rallys with the beauty rings on them.

I dont think there is a factory wheel that looks better on these cars.Even with aftermarket wheels there is little that tops it.To each his own though.

You would be right sir, thats why I want to take off my aftermarket wheels and put on some stock GTA wheels. I honestly think that black/polished lip wheel on my red 90 RS would definitely set it off nicely.

Try to get a set of 4 front wheels. This way you can rotate your wheels without worry of your rear wheels rubbing when installed on the front.

They used to use GTA wheels instead of IROC wheels for he Firehawk series as the GTA wheels were lighter.

Its lowered about 1 1/2 in back & around 1 1/8 inch in front. At least at the time the pic was taken.I think i raised it about 1/4 inch a while back.Iroc & 15 inch Z28 wheels are about 27lbs,GTAs are about 16 lbs.

My wife's autocross 90 RS, with 87 crosslace wheels. We had the centers painted the same yellow as the stripes.

And yes, the stickers are mainly sponsors, not "rice"

I agree. But, that was a bad Photoshop. It kinda looks like, the original rims lips, are still showing, since the crosslace wheels weren't sized correctly.

This better? It reduces the amount of sidewall, and eliminates the "whitewall" look to me.

Of course,to me, the gold looks better. The black centers tend to disappear, and lose definition.

hehe...Well, we sold that car about 5 yrs ago...Here's my SUPER OLD home page, with a few pics of it. My little hole in space...
Last I heard, the new owner moved to Colorado. I'd love to hear how the car is doing, but can't find him. I tried before I bought the GTA. I was gonna see if he was wanting to sell it. But, since he's gone, I got the GTA.

Hell, it was a RS, but pretty much everything had been changed for IROC stuff.

When I say it was HER car...I mean...IT WAS HER CAR!!! LOL Every time I turned around, I'd hear my 92 leaving. She enjoyed it TOO much, so she sold the F*rd Exploder, and bought the 90. She even passed up automatics until she found a 5 speed manual. Every time I turned around, she was putting stuff from my parts stash on the car!

That's OK though. I loved her that much more, for doing that! LOL

Me too. That's why I don't understand why nobody has stepped up and made 17" or 18" versions of the crosslace wheels. Closest you can get, are 3 piece wheels that aren't even made anymore, as far I can tell.

Anyone have a picture of a white w/gold trim Iroc with Gold GTA's on it? Probably not, but I always wondered what that would look like on my car.
How much do the stock 1987 --> 16 inch Iroc rims weight?
By the way I love the GTA wheels on just about anything.

I can't think of anything that doesn't look good with these style wheels. A while back there was a picture of 4 of them on a trailer that looked great.

Re: Camaros with GTA wheels?

I’ve wanted to put a set in my 78 y88 for a long time. Almost bought a set at a swap. Heard I’d want either the fronts or the backs as the set, not sure

Re: Camaros with GTA wheels?

Ok, with 15” tires getting harder to find , maybe 16’s will be better. I think black, the gold is the wrong shade. Unless I do the SE gold from 78
what lug nuts do they use? Flake Nuts?

Re: Camaros with GTA wheels?

What color is your 78 Trans Am?

I just looked it up. Solar Gold. I noticed the wheel color on those don't match the body color. I wonder how close that color is to the Gold wheels on on a GTA.

Re: Camaros with GTA wheels?

This was a listing on Auto Barn, or something like that. Probably a 15" aftermarket version, maybe Enkei. 16" GTAs would look better, but 17" reproduction GTAs might look better still.

And Year One offers a 17" reproduction of the car's original Snowflake wheel, which might look best.

But for a Camaro, TGO member, lonsal, has GTA wheels on his. There might be a picture on his website, Top-down Solutions. Or there might be a picture somewhere here on TGO.

Re: Camaros with GTA wheels?

First, I love orig, with that said, 20 nuts , you can change the look. My OG wheels are now a glass top table in my garage, if you want pics, I can show you, first I had steely, w/ dog dish, now gold rally 2’s, whicjph are hard to find, most are the 2 tone gray, next wheel are thise, my car didn’t come w/ WS6, so I didn’t get those, mine are 7’s. Those were a full brownish, Which I think look better that the Disco 8’s. I’ll have to compare the golds from thec2, I just figured black.
I have a baggie of the black covered nut from the Camaro wheels, look like it’s the same. Just might be deze nuts lol
