Aftermarket wheels?
Why is it so hard to find a decent looking wheel for my 84 ta? I checked out american racing and all they had was 3 wheels that would fit and one of them was the torque thrust wheel...I will admit they look great on something like a 55 chevy but they would look real bad on my car, lol! I am looking for something like the one in the pic but in 17" maybe 18"...can anyone point me in the right direction? I have some cheap looking crome rims right now but my car is black and I plan on using this eagle graphic on the hood and small ones on each fender but IMO it dont go with crome so I am looking at black 5 spoke or maybe even the gold GTA rims.

It seems like for the cars with the old school bolt patterns and offsets like ours is really hard to find modern wheel styles. The attitude with the wheel manufactors seems to be if you have an old bolt pattern you should only be running a torque trust or cragar style wheel.
They do not develop new style wheels for our cars.

It is because those cars use the postive offsets still used on the newer cars today. I wonder if we started an email campaign to American Racing or some of the other wheel manufactors to actually build wheel styles other then a classic five spoke if they would listen at all.
I think if we got at least half the people on third gen org to send an email to american racing demanding a new line of wheels for the old school bolt patterns they would listen.

You are probably right on the price. They will make you a wheel to fit your car but the cost of it will exceed the value of your car and probably the value of most of third gens on this board. I am curious to see what they say about styles and cost. Keep us posted.

Will do...I found another site that does have alot of wheels that will fit 3rd gen bolt pattern but they are all like 20" ugly gangster spinner type wheels and bling bling...lol!
I am on a mission though to find some good looking wheels, I think the gold GTA wheels look alright but I am finding out they are real hard to find and they also cost alot if you can find them.

I think you'd be surprised about the price for foose or coddington wheels,
Pretty sure american racing bought coddington recentlyso that might help lower the price a bit too.
I got 18'' Custom offset Foose wheels for $2200 Canadian.

Did you look at Eagle Alloy, Centerline, etc. They make some excellent wheels. IMHO you should get aluminum if you plan to keep you car, they will last much longer and always look good.
SLP Performance in Toms River, NJ also sells 4th generation wheels for the 3rd gen cars.
The stock size might need to go as well.

Im running American racing Rebel wheels. 17X9.5
Just get some spacers, I've ran 4th gen wheels for long time w/o any issues.

Belatedly moving to A&D board where you will likely get much more responses.

your best bet to get a style you want and a size you desire would be to look into custom billet wheels (foose, Boyd, Boze etc)...you will pay more, but I wouldnt really consider it breaking the bank. I wont ***** my car out anymore, but if you want to see the Boyd Coddingtons I ended up with check out my cardomain in my sig....they were just under 3k IIRC, and that included tires, mount, balance and shipping. What's better is that you end up with a set of wheels that aren't as common, and can really make or break your ride. Peope around my town are blown away when they see my whees, in fact, it's the most noticed part about my car - everything else gets overlooked first
