My 92 camaro RS in a small accident

so i went to the store to go get something. when i returned, there was this old lady next to my camaro. i was about to step into my car when she comes over to me and says i hit ur car while backin up w/ my excursion. lol i over looked the damage part of the rear wing. so i look down and saw the broken piece of the rear wing on the ground. lucky her insurance will pay for the damage and possibly a new paint job. Her excursion, which was pretty new, had a red paint on blue.

that sux, i always said if some ever hit my car id flip. so it sounds like u handled urself pretty well. damage doesnt look to bad but dont count on insurance coverin a new paint job. theyre lookin to get outa it for as lil as possible. get the car to a body shop, let the insurance co inspect it there. the shop will fight for you and get you the most money. hope that helps.

its kind of hard to replicate 15 year old paint, it will look bad w/ a new piece of the wing painted and the rest of the car w/ that old color red. plus she damage my rear bumper also. ya for a 15 year old kid who got hit, ya i wasn't too pissed.

yea i understand what your saying but in no way will an insurance company cover a new paint job for that damage. they dont care if it looks good or not. thats the problem with insurance they dont care. and that paint color and shine could be match if you find the right shop. ive done it before.

I was at my girl friends house about a week ago and her neighbor walks in and tells me that she hit my car. She smashed the door. Now the insurance is wanting to total it.

Free paintjob i guess .. Doesnt pay to flip out. Usually if you're nice they'll be nicer to you about getting your car fixed to better before it was hit. Just turned 18 and have seen my fair share of accidents with deer, snow, and ice.

yea but it really depends on the condition of your car too. 15 year old paint is something that will **** you off but can deal with....if I came out of a store to find my car in the same position, I would probably need people to restrain me after what I paid for paint

They think their vehicles make them indestructable, and really they just cause more accidents. And yes if i bought a used newer vehicle and had custom paint work done i'd but if it were stock paint i wouldnt be too terribly angry. Goodluck on the fix, post up pics when shes all bandaged up.

Theres no way that her insurance will pay to paint your whole car witht hat minimal damage youl get the new spoiler peices, painted and the bumper painted, if i were you id push to have them buff the entire car out because that will make the paint look much better and bring the match alot closer but id be amazed if you get the whole car painted

Yeah definitely make them match it the best they can or it might be better off to spend the extra cash and get an entire paint job. Before you go, make sure you have good pictures of before and after the damage. Keep good records and you will come out just as good as before it was hit. Always inspect before it leaves for the shop, and dont sign anything until it meets your expectations. If it doesn't make them work on it until it does. No cheap bondo fixes or cruddy paint. OEM stuff and nothing less.

If you guys had any idea how many time I've almost been run over by Excursions in parking lots (while driving my car) you would die laughing. It seems every parking lot I drive through there's an SUV waiting to run into me.

Definitely. If it doesn't look like nothing happened, don't accept it. It's your right as a customer that when they are finished someone should be able to walk around your car without seeing aything different than before it was hit. It's their job to make sure it's back to as normal as it can possibly be. And by the look of your picture, it seems easy in terms of a qualified shop to return it to normal.

My friend just got nailed in a parking lot. A 79 year old lady in a Le Sabre with a steel bumper....yea. Old people + heavy cars....seems to be a recurring theme.
I would definatly try to get a good buffing out of the deal and use GM parts. And don't go to a shop they reccomend.

Man, something like this happened to me while i was in my POS truck once.

I pull into a parking lot, and the person in front me of stops. Just sitting there. I put my truck into nutral and am making rude gestures, attempting to honk, THEN THE BITCH PUT IT IN REVERSE!

Hello! There was a Datsun back there! Grr I was pissed. she recieved some good cracking to her bumper, but I was no worse for the wear. It was just the stupidity of the entire thing.

I hate to tell you but they will total your car before they paint the entire car. That's the way they work.

Update for u guys.....

i took my car to the body shop and this wat he told me. First of all u can't get the genuine GM RS spoiler and genuine GM RS rear bumper, they don't sell them anymore. . We will paint the bumper and the piece of the spoiler (it will look like ****). A whole paint job cost 2k to strip the car to the metal and paint it completly. BADNBLK, the reason why i'm in Wyoming is cuz i had to move there cuz of my dad. It was a good idea cuz, in my town in Wyoming we got 2 MKIV Supras, a N/A one and fast TT supra. The N/A supra is my friend's and hes only 15.

Tell them to get a damn spoiler and bumper from the JY and repaint those...i dont see why they couldnt like paint the pieces and just wetsand do a "half ***" job at buffing that way it will look like hazy faded paint but still be smooth and match a little better to the other paint. Either that or wetsand and buff the whole car to match new paint. Make sure your hatch is aligned and the accident didnt mess that up. You gotta step up some and ask for all possible options. If it doesnt look good, dont just let it stand, try and work with them...

B********L S**************T!!!
thats the beauty most of us third genners have is the ability to find parts for our cars to avoid the "easy out" for ins companys to total our cars. in your case id find a door, tell em to shoot it and make sure it has a new hinge kit in there so it will line up right. ins companies have thir hands full if they ever have to deal with me. i have sourses for dang near everything and cheap reasonable or free at that!!!
dont let em total it, whip out your man card and force their hand.
