What do you think of this paint striping idea?
Does anyone know what the racing stripes on a 1996 corvette grand sport look like?
Basically, they are two diagonal stripes that run across the fender and end at the hood.
I was thinking about getting this on my driver's side fender in gold to match my wheels. I also want to paint the "Pontiac" on my driver's side headlight gold. My girlfriend thinks I'm nuts because the gold paint will only be on one side of the car. (If something is asymmetrical, it bothers her.) The body shop guy also thought it was a little odd (but he understood). Am I nuts, or is asymmetry bada$$?
Thanks!
Bill

The pontiac on your headlight should already be gold if its a GTA?, and as far as the corvette stripe goes
theres already a couple threads on it

On my gta, there is just an indentation in the headlight that says pontiac. There is no emblem or anything.

The other thread was started by me. I'm revisiting the idea after several months. =p

Im actually a fan of the grand sport stripes, never seen them done in gold... but it would definitly be unique and i personally think it would look pretty good

is anyone here a photoshop whiz who could hook me up with some pics for reference? I have tons of pics of my car I could send you.
Here are some photos of the kind of striping I'm talking about.
If I do gold striping, it might be overkill on gold. But, I can't think of any other colors that would look good.
Thanks!

They would b bad ***. do it, definatly. as far as your head light, i like that idea too. its like keeping a theme goin thru out the car. black and gold, awesome combo. and ur pontiac on the headlight isnt supposed to be already gold. thats only 87-90 gtas.

ive always wanted to run 2 stripes up the hood and have them cut down behind the front wheel(infront of the doors then goin into them about halfway down) and continue to the bottem. my car is teal, i was thinking either repainting the car silver, i thnk that is one of the best colors besides red and black. if it were silver, have those stripes be a really light black( i suppose you could call it gray). but that dont sound exactly right to me. hmm. idk

Well some of you thought it would be ugly, and some of you thought it would be kicka$$, but here it is!

Special thanks to Matt (camaro430sut) at Franks' Auto Care at CT for doing such a beautiful job on my car. He's been busting his butt for the past two and a half weeks on my baby.
I'll definately get some pics up once the car is fully assembled!

But, I hadn't seen it on a thirdgen. And, I didnt want anything as extreme as stripes all the way down the car. I'm all about the "subtle" mods.
This is really the first thing I've done for my car appearance-wise, so I'm really excited.

I think it looks pretty good dude. I'm a little bit OCD or whatever when it comes to stuff being symetrical, but this is one case where I think its perfectly acceptable :-) Can't wait to see it all back together!
