I just got the tyres fitted to my rear wheels today. The 295's look good but are just a tiny bit to big.
They just stick out about quater of an inch.
What do you all think.
Jeff.

No, those don't stick out too far. The blower there kinda directs attention. That looks awesome!
That looks like an oil filter coming down from your rear bumper there, what is that?

time to roll that rear lip around the wheel well before it takes out your tires with a big bump. some people use a dead blow rubber hammer or take a baseball bat and wedge it between the tire and body and push down to roll the lip.
Thanks for the reply,s.
Sonix and rwdtech they are the oil filters under the bumper, there is no paticular reason i have them mounted there except that they are going to be easy to change.
A lot of cars over here mount them in the rear like this and i just like how they look there, can you see any problem in the future that i could have by mounting them there.
As for horsepower i have not had it dynoed yet but as it sit,s i would like it to have 400hp.I think it should make that for now.
Thanks.

So you have a relocation setup, with about 15' of line, plumbing your oil filters (2 of them?) wayyyy back there?
I can't see any possible good to that, unless you're running a 455 Pontiac under the hood, and have absolutely no room.
I think it'll add a bunch of extra pressure drop in the oiling system, and I really think it'd be just too easy to rip off your oil filters there. I mean, if it was a stock SBC, and it's in the stock location, theres pretty much no way you can tear it off. You can take the car off a jump, and MAYBE you could dent your oil pan, but even that's tricky. With the soft rear springs, if you were to drive down a steep driveway, or out of a parking lot, and jump a slightly steep curb, you could tear off the oil filter, and your motor would be toast before you could even notice the 0 oil pressure.
I sure hope you can get a lot more than 400HP with that setup
Good luck to you.

Good luck to you. Sorry I know nothing about tires, but if I wanted to get that same size set up for the tires and just wanted a tire shop to do it for me, what would I say to them?
"Give me such and such rim in a 15x10 with 295's on it." ?

I might go back to the original oil filter setup ,like i said i put them there for no
paticular reason except that i like how they look there.
If there is any chance at all that it could effect the oil pressure i will not take the risk.
400hp is just being on the conservative side, there is still some things i have to work out and there should be a lot more in it.
Thanks.

Yea, I think you'll get more HP, that's just me guessing though.
Just making sure, that's a 295/50 Right?
Well, if you see them around, ask the guys there why they put them on, gotta be a reason.
I figured just more lines to swell and bulge, and longer piping usually gives a pressure drop....
Zyth - yea, you'd say you want "weld pro-stars, in the 15x10 size, with the bolt pattern for a '87 camaro... with the 5.5" backspacing..."
Might want to search on the boards for others who've run a 295 tire (usually guys are doing that with a 17" tire or something though), but find out what backspacing is common. Like greezemonkey mentioned 4.5" is also common, and would change the offset.
IIRC 295 is fat enough that you'd need to "modify" the inner fenderwell to tuck them in right. Just make sure you know what you're getting in to.

tires look great, impressive.
i want to widen my 17's two more inches, and put some 285 kumho mx's back there. step up from the 245s, which don't look all that big anymore...

I got the tyres put on and i put them straight on the car no inner wheel well mods at all.I will definately have to roll the lip as mentioned in a previous reply.I was suprised when they fit without hitting the wheel well because from what i have read on here alot of people that fit this size have to cut and weld the bump stop's and/or cut and weld or bash the inner wheel well, they seem to fit perfect at the back.
I will see what happens when the car settles again because i have had the car on jack stands for the last two weeks removing and painting the diff and undercarrige.
When asking for 295's i think different brands have slightly different width's.
correct me if i am wrong. So be sure what you are getting.
Thanks guy's.

one wheelie will take of of those filters! Now that would be a pressure drop! I`m thinking 400 hp will be pretty easy with that compressor you have

295/65r15 M/T Drag Radials on 15x10 5.5 b.s.
Jeff, I think someone already asked this but, correct us if we are wrong but those 295's are street tires? Maybe a 295/50r15? I mounted a set of drag radials on my car and they look alot taller and sit in my opinion a little tighter.
I am going to try and post a few pictures, let me know what you guys think

Ok someone plz teach me about offset, and backspacing. Im looking to get 275/50 for the rear, and 235/60 for the fronts. I want my tires to sit in just a little bit further than jeffs are right now. So jeff is running a 5.5in backspacing, what would make the tire go in that .5 of an in? Bigger or smaller backspacing? thanks.

if you really dont like them, i'll take them off your hands..
just joking.. looks good to me.. now if it was sticking out about a full inch or so, then it would be kind of weird..

Ive been searching the threads all day, and i havent come across this. Anyone have pix of 275s on 15x8 on 4.5 spacing and same on 5.5 spacing?
How about 295s on 15x8s with 4.5 and 5.5 spacing? Thanks.
EDIT: On 15in rims

Is your car lowered at all 5678TA? I have a 215/60 on the rear currently which is 26in tall. A 275/50 would be a shorter tire at 25.83, and i think i can fill my wheel well a bit more. Although yours dont look bad at all, so i may go that route. I think ill stay away from the 295s, cuz i still wanna retain some cornering performance. WHat are you runningin the front, i cant decide between 225 or 235,

I think someone asked for a pic of something like this so...
My car, 275/60/R15, on 2nd gen snowflake 15x8's. Not sure what the backspacing is;
