Where can I get wire mesh inserts for my hood opening?
I am getting a daytona style hood for my 86 Z28, and on the sides there 4 little opening and I would like to put some kind of metal or plastic mesh/screen.Kind of like what the ss hoods have in the front.
Thanks

ya gutter gaurd will work pretty good as long as you secure it good to the back side. Any of those large chain hardware stores should have it or something similair to it. I would use a 2 part expoxy to secure it. Just make sure it will work on fiberglass and the material you are buying.

If you want to keep a "stock" look, 87-92 GTAs and Trans Ams had this square mesh underneath the hood grills. (Probably 85 and 86 T/As as well) I don't think its super flexible or bendable, but you could cut it to fit. The bars are wide enough so you can have them painted (which is what I'm doing) or chromed if you wanted them to stand out.
Again, its a basic square pattern, nothing terribly exciting.

more then likely that meatal gutter gaurd is either made out of stainless steel or aluminum. That stuff is designed to be outside in all weather. and even it is is some cheap thin gauge steel, you can still apply some paint toit as long as you prep it correctly first. rough it up a bit, clean it, and then put some primer on it. then you can paint it any color you want. Just remember to use the proper primer if your going to paint over aluminum or stainless. I use 3M etching primer
