Need Wheel ideas for the Formula

Like the topic says: I need some wheel ideas. I am looking for some pics of Formulas with different wheel styles. I am looking for something in a 17 inch and wide as possible. There are pics of my car on my cardomain site. Yes I did a search but, I could not find anything that interested me. I am considering the 91-92 Firehawk wheels.

If I do Firehawks i will be without the inserts. I can't justify paying $400 for some paint. I don't want to use spacers or adapters. TTIIs are nice but, a little too expensive.

I haven't settled on the Firehawks yet. I am still open to suggestions.

The bad thing about the firehawks is that they are heavy.

How heavy? I think my factory ones weigh 45 pounds each.

According to this link: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/susp...ht=ronal+weigh

The firehawk wheel itself, not including a tire is 25 lbs. Thats probably the 17x9.5 version.

ZR1s/WS6 4th gen rims weigh 20.5 lbs for the 17x9.5 version according to LS1tech.com. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=471204 ZR1's at 17x11 wiegh only 24 lbs. TT2's weigh 24 lbs at 17x9.5.

But you would have to add adapters and that would add wieght for 4th gen ZR1 and you didn't want adapters anyway.

The weight I listed for my wheels was with tires. Are all Firehawk wheels 17x9.5s?

No, Hawks' LS1 92 Formula had 17x8's and 17x9.5.

Other sizes might be available.

The reason I was wondering was because I would want the 9.5s all the way around. My car would look like the one in the picture on Hawk's site. I followed the post that you referenced when these wheels were reintroduced. Are these the only 17s offered on a third gen?

I think the ronals look great on formulas, but if not those, maybe something like a boyd wheel, I like wheels with deep dishes on formulas.

If I go the Firehawk route i will order them from Hawks. Where is the cheapest place to get TTIIs? I have looked and mostly I keep finding 17x8s.

Wow, got anymore pics of that car? That thing is awesome!

I'd have to say go w/ a set of the Firehawks/Ronals also. I did'nt want to spend that much money on mine last summer so I just had the stock WS6 wheels re-furbished and was impressed with the results.

Good luck!

Hey do have any better side shots of your ROH ZS's. That color combo is very striking with the Gunmetal wheels. I really liked ZS's when I bought my ROH Drift R's, it was a tough choice to make between the two!

I like the ZS's. What size and what back spacing are those? Where did you buy them? I am probably going to buy my wheels and have to save for tires.

Here are the ones I am buying.

Centerline Matrix's

17x8 Fronts - $350/ea
17x9.5 Rears - $385/ea

EQUALS= $1,500 for rims ONLY

Tires are undecided as of now.

EQUALS= Dunlop Sp Sport 5000's @ $250 a tire....$1,000

So somewhere around $2500 for my rims and tires. WEIGHT I DO NOT KNOW WAITING FOR THE E-MAIL RESPONSE.

Zepher, your car is the ideal one for me to look at for wheel ideas. Yours looks the most like mine. I am 80% sure it will be the Firehawk wheels I buy. The second choice right now is TT2s. The wheels majority of the whells I have seen are for a 4th gen. I don't want spacers or a 4th gen rear so those are out of the question. Zepher, your sig says you have sportlines in your car. Is that what is in the pic you posted?

Ya, I have Sportlines on my car in all the above pics, but it doesn't seem as low as other cars I've seen with them for some reason.

The gunmetal that I have is NOT the Argent that ROH used. The color there is actually the color of the stripe that was originally on the car. Its also the same charcoal color that was used on the decals & WHeels

The fronts are 8.5" x 17" and the rears are 9.5" x 17"

IIRC the tires were 275/40ZR17 and the fronts were 255/45ZR17.

That was a great combo for your car - Nice work!!! I couldn't tell that all of those colors matched from the pics, but I am sure that it is really nice in person, cause it looks good from here.
