Satin Black stripes???? Should I?
Well friends I have been thinking of making a change to the exterior of BADNBLK, and would like to get an opinion from you all!
- I want to change my heritage stripes, and side accent color to a satin "Hot Rod" black color. I really want to have an intimidating look with this car, and the teal stripes just isn't doing it for me anymore.
Here is a couple pics,

Don't mind the water spots on the lense

Teal < Satin black.
Altho Im not sure of what it would look like on a black car... There was an episode of Overhauling last year, the car was a 05? Mustang. It was black from factory and they added Dark Grey, charcoal stripes. Looked VERY badass imo. If I had a black car, Id probably go that way. Lemme find you a pic dude.

I think it looks good as it is...BUT...change the stripes to that dark gray/graphite.....would look bad ***. I'm not saying your current stripes look bad....but I think the dark gray stripes would definently improve it....giving it a more subtle, darker look. I think it photoshop time...

You guys aren't the first one to think of the graphite grey, I had Firebat help me out, and I do agree that it does look good....

10X better

I guess the thing is...is that the teal that is on there.....is a good contrast color...but it doesn't match with anything..whereas the dark grey/graphite matches so much better

are you kiddin? no way i love the teal accent and glossy black,I thought you had another color on the car like if your car was red or blue, I dont think one can pull off the ther colors in the lower scoops on your GFX they way they do now. and the black wheels really pull off those accents as well, by all means keep it the way they are. I used to own a 4th. gen with a dark green metalic 4 in. cowl and I had ultra brite silver stripes on mine that ran all the way down to the front. I miss her though

I have been thinking about changing the color of the stripes for a while now. The teal just doesn't give that "mean" look that I want give the car for the next stage of appearance mods. I really doubt that I will keep the teal.
Thanks for the input so far... keep it coming!!!!

I almost put Black Heritage stripes on my Black '92. It was tough to not do it but I decided no stipes. I think the black would look better than the charcoal or the teal. Your car is hot so whatever you do wil be fine-change it or leave it as is!

I once saw a long time ago a black '70 Dodge Challenger and it had flat black serrated stripes along the side and it read 440 six pack, the best thing was that when my headlights hit the side at night time the stripes would reflect, I thought that was cool as all hell.

I seen this posted a while back.......I think that it looks bad a** with the grey. Could firebat do a photoshop with the "hot rod" black? Good luck!
BADNBLK - Go with satin black or silver/grey. I think it matches the car better.

I have been talking with my painter about this for the past month, and I think that I am going to use the satin black. The next problem is the method of installing the stripes... dull the clear, or use a single stage satin black? I guess that is something I need to work out with my painter.
Any more input is alway appricieated!
Firebat - If you can come up with something that would be awsome... Thanks for the first photoshops.

I talked with my painter a little more, and it is pretty much set in stone that the stripes WILL be painted in the satin "hot rod" black. The method we will be using is to paint the entire hood, deck, and spoiler black. We will add a "dulling" agent to the clear coat, then mask out the stripes. The satin paint around the stripes will be polished to normal black shine, then unmask to reveal satin stripes with NO edge
.
The only problem is that it will be very hard to have the satin black coming out of the GFX like it is now, and my painter is not sure if he came do it and make it look good.
?? - Should I just leave the GFX all black, or should I try it out??
LMK!!!

i would leave the gfx all black no matter what you do. youre thinking of using dark colors which would barely show up on the gfx or just make it look dirty. when youre using that bright teal it stands out, but a dull black will just make the paint look dull in the corners. my vote for all glass black gfx.

The grey stripes look awesome, imo. I think a silver or dark red would look nice as well. Whatever you choose, be sure to post pics when your done!

I really like the black and red combo, but I want something a little more unique. I have some high hopes that this will turn out really cool! I've got about a month before it can get into the paint shop, so I will post pics when she is all done.
I'm still not sure what to do with the GFX, I like the faded color out of them and still think it would be cool to do this with the satin black.

I think the car is 110% perfect the way it is right now. I absolutely love the black and teal. I always thought about doing that gfx mod on my convertible in black or something, and I always tried explaining to my friends what I meant, but nobody understood what I was talking about. Then I saw your car and about fell out of my chair, drooling on every square inch of carpet. Leave it the way it is, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. If I were to ever come into a 10ft radius of that car, I'd do all kinds of naughty things to it

Nah...Go with a shade shifter color...
Something like the cyan/purple...Both very dark colors, but would only show from the right angles, and change.
Of course, there are other shade options, that was just the first that came to mind.
Kinda like the first year Cobras.
I wanna do one on my GTA, or maybe just a light pearl job.

im a big fan of white stripes and while i dont have a black car i have white stripes with ppg pure white pigment added (its a pearl pigment)
I personally wouldnt have gone any other way and i think they look aboslutely amazing. they make normal paint look kind of crappy though. i have a fire red car and i added the stripes last week but now i regret not going with a pearl red on first. it shines really well in the sun but these pistures arent the best i just put them up to show family.
The white really turns heads but it also turns the cops around so if you do go with the pearl whites your gonna have to watch for cops more.
one pic is before the stripes and the other two are after.

leave it alone. its sharp the way it is... that "hot rod" (or better yet) "rat rod" look is being way overdone these days. Its a fad.
