Removing wheel clearcoat without chemicals
Removing wheel clearcoat without chemicals
Have any of you guys used a wire wheel or something to that effect? They also have plastic or nylon wheels as well that I am thinking of trying? I dont want to use chemicals as the paint on my wheels is very nice. I dont want to strip it. I just want to get the clear off of the areas where it is cracking. Sanding is a pain and takes too long. A drill with a wheel will work Im sure. Im just wondering what it will do to the surface of the wheel under the clear. Then again, if it will be sanded after, does it really matter? Let me know what you guys think and if you have tried this method. I searched all the existing threads and could not find anyone that used this method. Thanks.

you can do it with a wire wheel on a drill, just be careful not to take too much off to where you are gouging the aluminum. They sell coarse and fine wheel brushes... sand with progressively finer sandpaper and polish. done.
This process takes time to do. Dont bother if you arent willing to put some hours into it.
