Cleaned up the GTA today.

So today I took advantage of the nice weather, cleaned up the car and took some pictures. The sun's behind the house, so you don't get the full effect of the metalic paint, but it still looks really nice. The last one's an older pic, but I like it so I thought I'd include it as well. What do you think?

I was gonna do one of those poll things too, but I figured I'd try and knock out two things at once. The car has had those louvers on the hatch since I bought it and I've been back and forth, debating whether or not to remove them ever since. They look cool from some angles, but not so good from others. So let me know what you think about that too... Keep the louvers on, or not.

Anyway, here's some pictures:

I'd toss them myself.

But, what you REALLY need to ditch, is that car dealer emblem on the rear bumper!

I could understand if it was a super rare car, being kept 100% original, like a 69 COPO Camaro, etc.

Hear, hear!!

I'm leaning towards suggesting that you ditch the rear louvers personally.. Of course if you do that, then your car will look exactly like mine...

Looks sharp!!!

50/50 on the louvres and 100% on getting rid of the dealer emblem. Is that color Flame Red or Medium Red Metallic?

I don't suppose you have your SPID sheet with the RPO codes do you? I'm not real certain on my shades of red, but my $ is on 74U Flame Red Metallic. If you want, Pontiac Historical Services can get you a VIN and Information Packet. They can also get you a reproduction window sticker custom made for your car.

Ask over at The GTA Source Page and you'll get a correct answer on the first response.

1989 Trans Am GTA figures:

40U -- Exterior Color, White -- 2,961
41U -- Exterior Color, Black -- 1,659
74U -- Exterior Color, Flame Red Metallic -- 1,731
81U -- Exterior Color, Bright Red -- 1,475
87U -- Exterior Color, Gunmetal Metallic -- 644

Thanks for all the compliments! The louvers will probably come off as soon as I get the windows tinted. I don't like how much light and heat would get in without them on, which probably wouldn't be too good for the interior. So in the meantime, I'll keep them on.

As for the dealer emblem, I don't like it either... But it's no sticker, it's a plastic badge that's glued to the bumper and it's been on there since the car was new, so I'm a little leery about pulling it off. I'm afraid it might take some paint off with it, which is original, 89gta383.
