old skool is cool!
my pops let me use an old set of steel wheels he had laying around for my drag radials since i sold my rodlites. i repainted them white and polished up the baby moon hub cap. i think they look pretty cool honestly. they won't be staying on there for very long, but they are a really cool quick fix for my dr's.

and while i'm at it, i went ahead and cleaned the engine bay up and put my manual steering box back on. i think it looks pretty decent, though it needs a deep cleaning. i'm planning on media blasting the intake when i pull the motor for the head swap here in a few weeks.

i think that looks so cool with the older style bodywork, and for running drag radials nothing wrong with that

Absolutely KILLER. One of the weirdest wheel and tire combination I've seen on a Thirdgen, and it looks sweet. Definitely consider saving your money for bolt on parts because the looks is awesome.

It's not often that I comment on cars, but I've gotta chime in. Those wheels really "work" with the style of the car. They're a classier, understated look instead of the very 80's weld wheels that I usually see around. Consider keeping them around for a while - they really make your car completed. Instead of looking like a vehicle missing ground effects, they emphasize a sleeper look, which I think is fantastic.

I'd also suggest keeping them, and I am generally not a "steelie" fan. If your car packs a powerful punch, then those wheels are the perfect choice for a sleeper look. Lure in unsuspecting Mustangs and then chew them up.

wow, these are definitly being accepted much more than i figured from this site. the auto detailing and appearance board has always kinda gone with the bigger billet wheels and super lowered stance so these types of responses are definitely a breath of fresh air! though they did not recieve the same response when they were on my pop's ride.

Now see, I don't think they worked on your dad's car, with the door graphics, hood vents, ground effects etc. Your car looks like a stripper grocery getter with a six banger under the hood, and the wheels finish off the look. IROCS are supposed to look more ostentatious.

Indeed. keep them for a while. can't beat the price.
stephen, the 4th gens gotr the 3.8s. we have 2.8s. and MW66Nova's car started life as a 2.8L car if i am correct, so unless he has removed the badging, it does say 2.8 on the back. by the way, nova, LOVE the white doorhandles. love the whole car actualy. a fellow CascadeCrew member Quasitraction is basing his Berlinetta on your car. we are trying to take it basically in the same direction visualy. it will have a 350, but will probably be no-where near as fast.
EDIT* sig image shows no badging.

the car is actually a 1990 rs and started life with no badging and a 3.1 under the hood. i put 87 front/rear bumpers on it with the !gfx mod. it does have a little 305 badge on the pass side of the spoiler right above the tailight to lure some un expecting ricers and mustangs in!
it's interesting to see that other people are interested in "cloning" my car or atleast using it for inspiration. i'm extremely flattered and can't wait to see more peoples take on the "lowly sportcoupe". i'm just now starting a build on an 89 RS that a buddy of mine has and he's dead set on a no gfx car. he'll be using an 85-87 rear bumper and wants to go with the more chiseled front end of the 82-84's. along with some gun metal metallic grey and black wheels, i think it's just gonna look straight up OMINOUS!!!

i've always been one for the "sleeper" and "old school" look than anyone, but these wheels just look like you found these chained to a phone pole on the side of the road that someone was trying to sell for $20. They just aren't "period correct" and look a little wierd on this style ride. There are steel wheels they make for every car I'm pretty sure that you could find and slap on for the same look and give it the factory untouched and unmodified look. These wheels just look too old for this body style. I'm trying to make this sound as nice as I can because I like you thinking behind the idea. I can't tell you how sick I'm getting of anything bigger than 18" wheels on older cars anymore and am glad you are trying to keep the factory look alive. These wheels are just not my style on this car. But again, just my opinion...

Wow, I really like it. I think it looks bad on your dad's car because the black tires with black rims and polished center makes it look like you're running 8" rims, haha.

I agree with everyone that says they look really good on your car. I think everying is just right with your car to look good with those wheels. As mentioned above, any GFX or stickers or anything will ruin the look. But they are pretty sweet now!
How about some more pictures from different angles and what not?

I've got to say I like it! I never thought I'd like those wheels on a thirdgen, but your car really pulls it off.
Like the others said, it makes it look like a base-model grocery getter.

Not my first choice of wheels, but they work on your car. I've seen some third gen camaros with stock 1st gen rally wheels and stock center caps and they're appalling. By painting yours and using the dog dish caps, it looks decent.

The old school wheels do work with the sleeper image of your car but I still prefer the rodlites.

hahahahahaha...i love the comments! lol, got an action shot from this weekend for ya'll. wished it was putting air under those fronts but it's ok. these are DEFINITELY temporary as they slowed the car down .3!
i gotta lotta looks though!

oh, p.s. the rodlites are definitely a better wheel, but i sold them to pay off some debt. gotta do what ya gotta do, and the 85-87 IROCS are on there for the street. i'm selling my nitto dr's that i have on the IROCS right now and replacing with a 255/50/16 M/T DR.

I can't believe the track let you run, with the "hubcaps" on!
You could always get aluminum versions of those steelie wheels, for the weight savings. Keep the look, but get the weight savings!

Re: old skool is cool!
alright guys...after doing some more research and talking with some local guys, i'm sticking with the 305! i'm putting more gear in her and gonna try to click off some 11's with the tires totin'! if the stock eliminator guys can do it with stock lift camshafts and stock casting heads, surely i can do it with unlimited head/camshaft combo's!

Well, I think the masses are deciding for you.
