How can I get rid of this?
Alright, for the most part, the paint is in good shape. The only thing that I am fighting is the part between the t-tops and rear hatch. It looks like water spots in the sun light, so I got the Mothers clay bar kit and tried that. I also used a orbital buffer on it. None of those things helped it. Here are some pictures of what I am seeing. I starting to think that the clear coat is damaged, but I am no expert. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Is it on the glass as well? If it's on the glass as well, the clearcoat can't be damaged. Just a very stuck spot.. Have you tried auto compound? I bet you some compound and a good buff with the compound will wipe it right out

Re: How can I get rid of this?
Pick up some 3M Perfect-It II rubbing compund, that is supposed to be some good stuff. I have a bottle of it but I haven't used it yet since I didn't have an extra buffer pad for it until just recently and my car was painted about 8 months ago so it doesn't need that yet. I did try some cheap 3M rubbing compound I bought from Wal-Mart on the old paint and it worked pretty well with the spots and light swirls so the Perfect-It II should do even better. You may want to register on http://www.autopia.org/ and ask over there, then you have a lot of people who really know what they're doing to help ya.

What product did you use when you tried to buff it out? You might need a more aggressive product.
Re: How can I get rid of this?
If you still can't get it out after buffing, wet sand the areas w/2000 grit and polish using mequires mirror glaze (i forget which step) and remember to use a waffle pad on your buffer.
That will clean it out for sure.

Re: How can I get rid of this?
I started out using Mothers California Gold Clay bar paint saving system
I got really good results throughout the car, except that section the car.
Then I used the Mothers Carnauba Cleaner Wax with my orbital buffer. I just have the cotton terry polishing bonnett on it. I did not see any difference in the spots after that. I also tried using Meguiars Cleaner wax with the orbital buffer. No difference again. I tired using a bug and tar remover.....and no difference.
I have never wet sanded a car before, and probably will not......unless I have a professional do it. knowing my luck, I will mess it up pretty bad.
What product are you referring to that is "more aggressive?"
Thanks guys for the tips and responses!

Professional grade products will most likley not get rid of that. You should get some foam pads, those work better. You might want to spend some money and get some professional grade products and do a full detail (probably a full day job) on it. A cutting pad with a good rubbing compound will probably get those spots out but from what I understand if you use a cutting pad you have to go back over it with a light cutting pad (if you use the more aggressive cutting pad first), polishing pad, and then finishing pad. Like I said you should really head over to autopia.org or the "That'll Buff Right Out!" section on offtopic.com.

Those just look like hard water spots almost. Like whats left after the impurities in the wash water bake in the sun for awhile. They will be tough to get out, but do able.
Wet sanding is really really easy. And you wont mess it up unless you go too crazy or unless your clear coat is super thin. You know how when you use the clay bar, it will feel rough for a second, then feel super smooth? Same thing will happen with teh 2000 grit. It will feel gritty, then all of a sudden it will feel smooth as glass. Lots of water and go easy and you will have a nice smooth dull finish. Then take your polish and start working it like you would normally.
I was scared to wet sand on my paint too...and my car is black. But I accidently left metal shavings on my headlight bezel, and the sun melted them into the clear alittle, and then they proceeded to rust. So I used sand paper then polishes and it went well.
Try some other products, and wet sand as a last result maybe... Good luck!

Re: How can I get rid of this?
A mild rubbing compound on a buffer will get rid of that. If you don't feel comfortable using a buffer on your paint, some hand glaze and a lot of elbow grease will get rid of it too.

Re: How can I get rid of this?
for the glass, get a #0000 or #000 steele wool for the glass, its very gentle, its used for wood finishing, etc. i use it all the time, i am a detail foreman and deal with this alot, what you have is caused from rain, strictly impurities. removal with an orbital does not create enough heat and wax has no cutting abilities as an orbital is from 700-1200rpm. you need a good compound such as farecla G3 or the milder farecla G1. if you've never touched compound and a highspeed buffer 1200-6000rpm.....take it to a proffesional as you can risk burning your paint.take a look at my vbgarage, thats my car with old paint, i highsped the clearcoat which cuts a very fine layer of it to expose fresh, undamaged clearcoat, i was prepping it to put the decals on it and needed to remove impurities just like yours, goodtimes...
