Buffer Polishs and techniques

Is there anything I should be careful about when choosing a polish to use with a buffer? How about the best buffer RPM setting? Any polishs (not waxes) recommended by you guys? 3M? Meguires? etc......

3m makes some good stuff,as for rpm's I would say between 1800-2200.You shouldn't have to go any faster than that........
