How to polish your tail lights?

My tail lights have lost all the gloss and started to fade, so I wonder what to do to make those look like this:

I'm very sorry if this hurted someones copyrights or so, I thought it was the best pic of shiny tail lights

I was going to say take a quick trip to Home depot but then I saw where you live. All you need is an electric drill, a buffing wheel, and some polishing compound. But you want a fine grit. Check out the site where you got the picture, but if you dont have it here it is. http://members.aol.com/mmmm999/3rd-degree/tips/tips.htm

Thanks fellos, but could someone define 'polishing compound'? Is there any known brand in the market? (read: something that might reached up here in Finland too..)

I don't even think you need any power tools!!! The brand to look for (I guess) would be Turtle Wax...look for their "Polishing Compound." Polishing compound is a slightly abrasive liquid that will basically wear away the old, dirty surface of your lights (or anything for that matter) and give you a new shine.

I used Turtle Wax polishing compound when I put junkyard IROC tailights on my RS, and they came out like brand new lights!

Crazy people...polishing coumpound this, cleaning that...just use plain, old toothpaste. Works like a charm. Rub on, rinse off. Repeat for added gloss. Works for teeth, works for lights. What more could you want in a product??? You may need something special to get that crazy gloss in the pic, but use the toothpaste first!

Chrome polish will do a real good job of freshening up your tail lights, but will leave a slightly cloudy finish. After you get that far, you can use some plastic polish. (yes, it does exist. Maguires and a few others sell it, but the only brand I could find in my area was Blue Corral or Blue something). It made my tail-lights shiny enough to see a clear reflection of myself in.

To tell you the truth.... if you clean your taillights when you wash your car and then put armor all on them, they look really good.

ANYTHING looks good with Armorall applied... but the fact is, dust stick to armorall like flies to **** and Armorall will wash away in a few days at the most.

I used 303 Aerospace Protectant on my tail lights and interior, and wow, what a diff. The dash is a deep shiny black again, instead of looking faded. The tail lights shine really well, and it even works on tires and rims. I would suggest it, it works great. You can get it at a local parts shop. He I got it from lordco auto parts.

Will this work if you have faded front parking lamps? When I bought my car one of the parking lamps had been replaced so it looks like new but the other is original and its has a very cloudy finish on the front.

Yep... I agree..Meguiars#2 Polish works great on everything! Ive used it on the front parking lights, rear tail lights, console, clearcoated rims. Anything plastic or paint it will make it shine like glass. Just keep rubbing it on and taking it off till you get the desired effect. I even use it around the house to polish plastics.
