Re: tint t-tops?
mine are tinted. I'm pretty sure they were tinted from the factory, but I suppose if its okay from the factory, then you should be good...

Re: tint t-tops?
ok thanks.. i pretty much wanna have minimal sunlight through there.. or i might just go with the 5% to completely black it out.. my car is pretty much a drag car that i daily drive.. so no AC.. not even a freakin fan!!! so it gets pretty hot.. i'll eventually get 35% on the back glass and 20% on the side windows.. i never drive with the windows up so its not a legal issue..

Re: tint t-tops?
same here, I live here in the humid south and I don't have AC. I currently have 20% on my side windows and the hatch has factory 32%(I think). Eventually, I'm going to tint the hatch to 20% also...

Re: tint t-tops?
I had my 92 tinted 8 or 9 years ago with 5% limo tint. No issues with it except a couple of scratches from me being stupid with cargo that wouldn't quite fit

haha same here, being foolish with the subbox that wasn't seated properly. Which is another reason I want to retint the hatch, but I'm going to have a friend come over and help me take the hatch off to do it...

Re: tint t-tops?
alright, lets just establish this..
all t-tops are tinted from the factory(as far as i know).. i want to add my own tint to make them darker, possibly even black them out.. i've heard what IROCME said about cracking so i want a definitive answer.. TINT T-TOPS??? YES OR NO?????

Re: tint t-tops?
They are glass right?! Come on, a little water and soap and a squigee and you should be good to go.
If I'm not mistaken, the t-tops are tempered safety glass. This is the stuff you wish your home windows were made of. Another 1/8" thicker and they would be impact glass. They are not going to crack or break unless you bang the corners real hard. I worked in glass and mirrors and never heard of such a thing but if you want I'll ask my friend who is still in the business if he's ever heard of such a thing just to get a second opinion.

Re: tint t-tops?
They're really easy to tint yourself, if you were thinking of getting someone else to do it. If you were gonna do it yourself all along...good choice.
I put some 20% on mine. It really helps down here in Florida. And with a black car, it makes it look more flow-ish.

go for the expensive stuff from the autopart store. You'll be sorry if you go for the cheap wal-mart one...

I don't think I've ever heard of factory mirror tint. Maybe a previous owner?

Re: tint t-tops?
all the t-tops i've seen have a very light mirror tint on the inside.. in other words, it reflects more than usual.. hence the mirror tint.. its not like you look up and see a clear as day reflection of yourself, its just a light reflection..

Re: tint t-tops?
tinting is pretty cheap, you can probably do it with one roll about $15 and they still have the option to remove it or change it

Re: tint t-tops?
There's a kit offered for Vettes through either Mid America designs or Ecklers...I can't remember where I got it but it was one of those suppliers. You would need two and trim them to fit for F Body T-tops but the tint works great. It's perforated with tiny holes..it lets some light through but blocks the UV.
