Is Silicone bad for your paint?
They are bad if you are going to paint the car any time soon, or if you work in a body shop. Silicone will cause bad fish eye and paint will not adhere to anything with silicone on it. Other than that I don't know why it would be bad for paint.

i usually put on the quarter panels behind my back tires when i go drag racing that way rubber won't stick to the body. It works great, and so far it hasn't done a thing to the paint.
