Do a search on Angel Eyes on the site and you will see several threads concerning this upgrade. From what I have read, the $25 ones on E-Bay are not something I would EVER put on my car!

Re: what are city lights
i got the silverstar ones and love them. They work great and are plenty bright on high but seem to be a little dim on the low beams but around the same as stock at least on low. they are about 75 for all four though.

Re: what are city lights
'City' or 'halo' lights, are the colored ring AROUND the headlights, for when the lights are off. Since the headlight doors are closed on a Firebird, they'd be useless.
I got some H4s lights, that have a small 1156 bulb, for coloring the headlight bucket, for a similar effect, when the headlights are off. They had blue bulbs in them, when I bought them. I put clear ones in, just because I didn't like the blue r i c e r look of them in there. I got them used and cheap, that's the ONLY reason I got that kind. I didn't even bother hooking the tiny lights up.
Here are 'city' lights lit up...

Used for when the head lights are off, and useless for Firebirds since our headlight doors are closed when they are off.

Re: what are city lights
i just want some brighter lights i dont care about the "city" look, i bought some cheap ebay ones and they suck
Re: what are city lights
Do what I'm doing. Get the aftermarket headlights on ebay, upgrade to at least 12 gauge wire harness(make a harness, with relays), put in high temp headlight socket connectors, put in brighter bulbs.
What I consider the city light is not the halo or angel eye. I will have the halo and the "blue" city light on at the same time. However, it will not be blue, but a colored LED bulb(haven't decided which color yet). I'm doing it more for show, like at night at the local hangout or at car shows. By no means would I use them to light up the road.
I have the 82-90 style headlight. I had to dremel(cut/grind) out parts of the stock-headlight-shell-thing to get the aftermarket headlights to fit.
I haven't figured out what headlight bulbs to get yet... I have heard of japanese bulbs being 150W+ but I would think that would start making things burn up.

Re: what are city lights
really? i put the hella vision plus conversions in my bird and didn't have to cut anything- it was a little but of a tighter fit but i was still able to get the retaining ring on and tightened up with no problems. what lenses did you use?
Re: what are city lights
What are you guys adding solenoids for? I upgraded to H4 bulbs and non sealed beam housings and I didnt have to touch the wiring. And the wiring stays cool to the touch.

Re: what are city lights
On low beam from a distance they do look blue, but up close they look like a bright white.
Re: what are city lights
I used the headlights off of ebay with the halo's.
The upgrading of wiring and adding relays is too get more power to the bulbs, and more light output. For an extreme example, you wouldn't use a 26 gauge wire to power a car amp.
I have heard of people using about 85 watt bulbs and melting the headlight socket connector.

Re: what are city lights
The Sylvania Silverstars are the ones everybody is talking about. I'd say, 90% of my local club has converted over to Silverstars. Their good lights.

Re: what are city lights
the sylvania silverstars are ok.....
i just upgraded to Osram silverstars (the European parent company of sylvania) and they're a LOT better!! clear glass bulbs with a UV filter coating and xenon gas inside. its really an awesome bulb- and WAAAY brighter than the sylvania version. and the best part is they're not amber- they're bright bright white- and they supposedly don't dim over time like normal bulbs (that's what i heard anyway). i'd recommend these bulbs 100%.

91/92 have different sized headlights, but I'm sure Silverstars are made for them too.
