Has anyone bough these headlights?

i was just wondering if anyone has tried these headlights from ebay and if so, how are they? I know most of these ebay kits are crap but these didnt look to bad. My stock lights just suck but I dont have too much cash for the expensive stuff. Or if anyone has found any other good kits. Anything would help. Thanks

I bought this kit and the lights aren't bad at all! The only thing that sucked about them was having to alter the headlight buckets. I basically had to cut of the entire back of the stock buckets to make the lights fit correctly. Sounds like a pain but with a good set of tin snips it wasn't bad at all....

Overall not bad lights... Be aware though of the H4 Lights overpowering the circuit and blowing out your headlight switch. Summit sells an APC harness to fix this issue by connecting the lights up with relays and a connection to the battery itself.

Look around on the site and I'm sure you can find the threads with a quick search.

Re: Has anyone bough these headlights?

I put H4 headlights on my camaro and I really liked them. I ran them on both of my 3rd gens. Just make sure the ones you get have something in front of the bulb so you're not blinding oncoming traffic. The ones in the first ad look a little strange to me.

I originally bought e-bay versions, and have since switched to APC versions. The APC are better quality, have smaller boots, so need less modification. Definitely get a harness. They will brighten your lights even if you stay with stock bulbs. And they will save your headlamp switch if you do switch to H4's. APC and now painless make harnesses.

Re: Has anyone bough these headlights?

simz, you can also fab your own harness, pretty easily. All you need is a 30+ amp relay and fuse, as well as some assorted wire(14ga Red, 14ga black, etc). Wire the relay to use a direct battery source for power supply, with the fuse in the circuit, or use an existing high amperage fused circuit. Use the current headlight wiring to turn on the relay with the headlight switch, just cut the feed wires to the headlights and have them go to the relay activation circuit(labeled on the relay). Connect the relays ground to a good clean grounded surface(Rad support, etc), wire the relay to the other end of the headlight wiring you cut to get into the curcuit which is the same output to the headlights as stock, just now powered by the relay.

The relay only has two circuits, switched side and controlled side, almost all are labeled directly on the relay. You may already know this, but just in case.

With some patience and a little electrical knowledge you could get it done for about $15-20 or much less if you have some items around, like the relay, fuse, wire, etc.

The headlights are nice though, they are on my list once I find some time to get it done. haha

Re: Has anyone bough these headlights?

Celticsfan, You basically want to use the existing circuits to power on the relay you'll be installing, rather then the headlamps. For high beams do the same with a second relay using the wire feeds to the high beam lamps.

You'll be using the headlight switch to turn on the relay, which can handle more current then the switch can by itself. Run power and ground wires from the battery or high amperage battery powered circuits to the relays switched side. Run the headlamp switch wiring that was going to the headlamps to turn on the relay, with a ground on the other side of the relays control side/circuit.

Not sure if that makes more sense?

If I have a chance tomorrow at work i'll pull up a wiring diagram and get the wire colors for you to see if that helps more. I'll post it here in a day or two.

Here's something from the tech articles that talks about making an upgraded headlight wiring harness.

I'm about to convert mine to H4 using the ebay lights. We'll see how it works out.
