RA-II hood on my GTA, or not??
I've got someone local to me who's selling a fiberglass RamAir-II hood for a reasonable price, & I'm trying to decide if I'd like it or not. (For whatever reason, I'm REALLY sitting on the fence on this decision.)
Now I'm VERY MUCH interested in dropping the car's weight wherever possible, so that'd be a plus, it's just the aesthetics, plus the aerodynamic effect that has me thinking (I'm planning on running my car on the Bonneville salt).
I won't be needing the hood clearance, since I'm swapping to an LQ4 or LQ9 engine this winter, and I won't be able to have it painted to match for a while, so it'll likely just get a semi-flat black primer, which won't match the paint on the rest of the car.
I guess I'm torn because I kind of like the look of the RA-II hood, & after the engine swap I'd have the power to back it up, I guess I just like the RA-I hood better (as it's more subtle).
But getting it for a good price would rock.
Thoughts/comments/suggestions???

Re: RA-II hood on my GTA, or not??
I just traded a guy for my stock hood and as much i loved my stock hood my new ram air II hood is soooo sexy and i also painted it satin black to match my deck and high rise z28 spoiler since i couldnt afford to paint them either and my deck and spoiler were red and my hood was white and my car is gray but it turned out to look pretty good without that ***** look because it matches my gta wheels that are painted satin black it makes the whole thing come together

Well, thanks for the feedback, if you've got some pics, post 'em up, as I'm kinda curious to see what that looks like. (BTW, a little bit of punctuation would make your post a LOT easier to read...)
C'mon, I know that some of the rest of you who have read this have opinions - I'd like to know what they are!

I'd say it depends on how much you can get it for and how much the weight is worth to you. I personally think that hood looks killer and it can be functional.

Re: RA-II hood on my GTA, or not??
Well, I found a picture of a GTA similar to mine with the RA-II hood, & it's really kind of grown on me, so I'm going to go look at it tonight. Also, it appears that it's already been painted black (here's a pic of the actual hood), so I might just leave it as is...

Re: RA-II hood on my GTA, or not??
Well, I went ahead & put a deposit on it - it's hard to go too far wrong when it's about half the price of a new hood, PLUS no shipping/crating fees. Between that, the weight savings, & the fact that it seemed to be finished pretty well, I don't feel real bad about it.

That's definitely a good looking hood, even better if you're getting a good deal on it.

Figures - now that I've already put the deposit down (& I'm no longer really looking for opinions), NOW people come out of the woodwork to give their opinions!!

Re: RA-II hood on my GTA, or not??
Sorry we didn't see your post within 242hrs of you putting your $ down.
I don't like the RA-II hood, because it is missing 2 of the nostrils, that are in the front bumper cover of the 4th gens.
If my TAHOE could have all 4 openings, there is no reason a 3rd gen hood couldn't...
