Re: 1991 Z28 HID conversion

i have ebay h4 housings for my low beams.

kept original fog lights

the HIDs are Onex Hid kits.

they run about 157 shipped per kit.
H4 housings are like 20 a piece. so its not that bad.

link to my HID kit: http://stores.ebay.com/TUROK-PERFORMANCE-PARTS

all bulbs and colors arent listed all it takes is an email and tell him bulb size and color u want.

low beams are H4 bulbs
fogs are 880 bulbs.

Re: 1991 Z28 HID conversion

About 90% of "fog" lamps are actually driving lights. "Most" true fog lamps are actually amber or yellow so that they reflect less against the water vapor. Those that aren't have special lenses to tilt the light downward, again to reduce the glare. For all intents and purposes, having hid's in the grille makes them driving lights. Using them in the fog would be self defeating.

didnt think about it. they are simple. they come with little holsters to mount them in but i just used 3m 2sided tape to mount them. the low beams are mounted right behind them, driver side is near all the smog stuff, and passenger is near the battery. as for the fogs, i have the ram air set up on mine where it has the metal boxes behind the FOG lights, if i pull them out there is a metal brace infront of them im guessing this is the bumper support and both ballasts are mounted on this piece of metal.

Easy there big fella. Wasn't being critical. Besides, since I work for a GM dealer (and have for nearly 30 years in one form or another), I hope I'm smarter than that by now, lol. There are a lot of things GM does that do not make any sense. I was just making a general comment based on Brisk's statement that it made them driving lights.

Re: 1991 Z28 HID conversion

Hey I bought Projector Headlights with H4 bulbs from Cosmo Dynamic on Ebay. I'm not sure of all of the specifications...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...189758341&rd=1

Can I just bolt these on as an OEM replacement or do I need to change some wiring and/or connectors?

P.S. I bought these because my headlights are not bright enough for when I drive... It's actually for safety more than look. Unfortunately where I live we dodge potholes for a living so I kinda need these for night time drives.

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

What I hate about pictures of these types of things is you can never really tell what they look like, the picture never comes out like in person... Nice job btw.

Re: 1991 Z28 HID conversion

I assume when you say you went with 880 bulbs for the fog lamps, you mean just a regular 880 fog light bulb? I use the Silverstar 893 bulbs in my fog lights and the Silverstar 9003 in my headlights, but I plan on switching the 9003 to HID soon.

Re: 1991 Z28 HID conversion

yes they are true HIDS, hence why he needs to tap onto the battery, the stock headlight harness doesnt push enough power for an igniter.

bglancer- the positive you can attach to your pos batt terminal. i might be easier if you go to your local parts store and get a terminal with an accessory mount location. as for the ground any body panel bolt will work. just make sure it has a good metal contact thats not painted.

Re: 1991 Z28 HID conversion

ok so i have the same set up i have my h4 swap already in and it works great... but when i went to put the 880 in for the fogs the bulbs hit the reflectors inside so i went to remove the reflectors and ended up breaking one of the lenses so now im waiting for new fog lights... how did you get around this and do you know where to get retainers for the fog light glass
