i have a new idea for decals!!

ok so i was talking to a friend. and he talked me into putting my new weld wheels on my car instead of my dads 97. oh well dad can wait.
and he reminded me of his car before he took it apart, ( now its a 406 carbed 88IROC with a 9" FORD 3.70 geared rear, and a 700r4 9disc clutch and everything new inside.
with AFR heads. he works for AMERICAN SPEED building every engine that comes out of there, its advertised in Super Chevy)
but back to my car!!
i ordered all new decals - rocker and back bumper-the raised decals, not the vynil.
and he talked me into just putting those back on and the 5.7 Tuned Port Injection bellow the rockers and the back bumper.
NO IROC-Z on the doors and no Stripes above the ground fx. just plain looking, but soo sleek!! its gonna be so awesome. tell me what you think!!
i get the car back next week early!! with new fenders, door handles fog lights, and everything!! i spent a little over $600 at GM parts store here, but i got employee discount since i work in the PREP dept. so it would normally be $900-1000!
talk to everyone later!!

Personally, I think IROCS should have the stripes above the gfx. The IROC logo I could live without.

I'd have to agree with Jza. Without the striping your cars gonna look like an RS. I would keep the IROC decals too, but it's your car and it's up to you, either way it's gonna look great and i can't wait to see some pics!

Some ******* put the IROC stickers on my car and it really looks stupid to me. It would be alright if it was an IROC!!! I think you should leave the stripes and decals off. When I get mine painted it is going to be plain red with just the window decal. I think they look nice when they are clean and simple. They are a hot car with a nice set of wheels and no dress-up.

I personally don't like the stickers around the bottom, but would leave the IROC door stickers. Up to you though man, your car.

I'm repainting mine and I'm just going to put the iroc decals in the rockers and the iroc one on the bumper if I did get the iroc door deals I would put them on the side of my cowl on my hood. I say it sounds sweet. When I first got my car those hideous strips were the first thing to go.

since when do decals desginate what your car is? persoanlly i would only have the iroc and stripes if it was a black iroc with red decals. that looks awesome, but i dont like any other color arrangment. i think the hood is what makes it look like an iroc, not the decals.

Im going to keep this simple, I hate that horrid gray stripe that runs along the bottom of my car..... Its GONE when i get it painted, but as far as the IROC - Z stickers, keep them, real irocs in good shape W/ GOOD PAINT are getting very rare, and they look so sweet. Id keep the IROC - Z stickers, and if you look at them theyre not that big. I think they look good to. Im going to have an AWESOME paintjob here soon, As I work at Maaco.

Personally I would put all the decals back on especially the IROC ones on the door. As long as its the stock decals. Ive seen some aftermarket ones with different lettering and it looks really crappy. The IROC decals is what makes the IROC stand out on its own. Without it, most would think its an RS. JMO

That sounds sort of like my car! I took off the "IROC-Z" and the bottom stripes too. I like it a lot better.

sup jarrad,
my friend at school with the 87 IROC-Z had it painted a year ago at the town body shop (its already rusted out, that is why i only trust my uncle) He left the stripes off, but kept the Iroc stickers. Lots of people confuse are cars (definitely not car people).

I like the more modern monochromatic look (no stipes & stickers). However, if you are into the stock look or restoration, that is fine too. On my first 89 IROC I had it repainted and put the just the door stickers on. It looked good. On my 86 IROC it had neither when I got it. I liked it so much that when I got my second 89 IROC repainted I didn't put them back. Not even the 5.7 TPI badges. It became a sleeper.

I have an 89 White Iroc with silver Iroc-z stickers. I think those colors go good. My car doesnt have any stripes on it. I know all three of the previous owners and they said it never did. Is that possible? But who cares anyway cause they are gay.

I think an Iroc without the stickers is naked. One of the main reasons to tell a IROC apart, I see alot of IROC wanna be's who have 85-87 Z's and put the IROC sticker on there. I think thats kinda sad. They also distinguish between the people who have stock RS and IROC.

well i got my iroc painted about 2 years ago and they didn't put the decals stirps back on. It looked really plain. I got the Iroc stickers and it really makes the car. But I got to say I was driving a few months ago and saw some guy with a sharp looking red camaro, it had no decals or stirps but looked sharp, cause everything was shaved and filled in. Now if your going to leave the decals off you should go with that look much sharper in my opinion. If not you look like just another camaro.

ok guys i am just gonna have to see what it looks like. i liked it on my friends black IROC, but after looking through a bunch of pictures i dont know. and i am gonna be running a set of WELD PROSTARS, so it wont have stock appearance and that really doesnt matter that much to me.. and shoot if i dont like it when its done, i can always buy the decals again.
and what aftermarket companies are good for the decals and who is crap?
or should i just order them from work. i have enough of a bill there already, but why not make it higher!!

and hey one of my dreams is to have an RS with a 406 that will run 10s in ET Street trim! i will do it someday!! now that is a sleeper!

thanks for all replies guys, and post some more pics so i can get a good idea!!

hey derek, i dont plan on running actually skinnies up front, but i think they are like 195 or smaller, so they are pretty skinny compared to the backs atleast.
and did you notice a difference in the car when you put aftermarket wheels on?
and i get the wheels tomorrow, i cant wait to get them on. and drive my Darned car!
