Bigger Mesh wheels

While i'm a relative newbie to the Thirdgen forums trust me i have searched this topic before i posted. I have always loved the GTA crosslace wheels, but always wanted something bigger in the mesh style. I know BBS makes these wheels but how about something to fit the 3rd gen Trans AM. Ideas ? Suggestions? I plan on purchasing my dream trans am in a few months so input would be great. thanks.

Re: Bigger Mesh wheels

I love the year one wheels, but they cost way too much for me. I've been looking at BMW wheels. There are alot of BBS mesh around for them in larger sizes and low offsets. The measurement is a bit smaller, but if I can get one to test fit I'll see if I'll run them.

Re: Bigger Mesh wheels

There are a few companies that make larger mesh wheels. I think these are among the best: All these are very nice, very light, but very expensive.

SSR Professor MS1
http://www.more-japan.com/SSR_ms1.php

Work XR

These can be custom made to your size and offset.

And what may be the best looking mesh wheel (besides the original GTA's); SSR Formula Mesh

Good luck finding a set of these though, they went out of production a few years ago and I've been trying to find a used set in the right bolt pattern, size, and offset for a while now.

I think those BBS wheels you posted can also be custom made to your size and offset, but be prepared to spend a lot.

Re: Bigger Mesh wheels

The guy i bought my wheels from (TGO member), said he found these wheels at a dealership. Made to fit porsche, BMW, and mercedes i think. (bolt pattern of 5 x 120mm. Third gen is 5 x 120.7mm.

He said they were modified to accomodate third gen bolt pattern. Looks like theyve had one or 2 bolt holes elongated, or enlarged, and then filled with some sort of spacer. They work great, and fit like a glove. Even the centercap looks like its the same size as the thirdgen sticker.

17x8.5 and 17x9.5.

Those wheels look great online170. Do you know who the manufacturer is?

If you ever decide to sell them, let me know

I have no idea, my point was simply, that BMWs and Porsches also follow the mesh design, im sure they can be modified to fit our cars since the bolt pattern is so close. The say made in belgium, i dont know if thats any help.

As for selling them, i just got them myself, and im pretty sure they are few in number if not one of a kind. So i plan to hang onto them for a while .

It's very close, that's why I wanted to try them. A german member of the board used his BMW wheels on his Camaro for a while. Looked good. They are not for porsche or mercedes. Those are way different patterns (130mm and 112mm).

I see some of these used all the time (drifting sites). I've seriously thought about getting 5x114.3 adapters for my car. Such cool wheels with low offsets.

Oops, i was wrong about porsche, and mercedes, but BMW uses the mesh pattern plenty.

http://www.megaperformance.com/boltpatterns.html

The previous owner of my wheels said they arent a direct boltin, you will have to modify atleast one hole. Ive never actually tried to mount a BMW rim on my car, so im not 100% sure, but mine are modded.

soultron, what drifting sites do you see them on. I can't ever find any larger than 15 inches.

The problem with SSRs is, you can't get them bigger than 15s.

Find some 17/18s, and I'm all over them!

You can. There was a set on ebay a month or two ago. 17x9 and 17x11. I didn't buy them because they weren't the right bolt pattern. Offset backspacing may have been ok, but I never measured becase the buy it now was something like $3000 I've never seen another set that big. I just wish I had saved the pictures

http://www.rbwheels.com/ Lots and lots of used wheels, sometimes in 5x120 and usually lots of mesh and sick late 80s styles. 3 spokes!

Re: Bigger Mesh wheels

I've been looking for a set of black mesh wheels with a polished lip. I need to upgrade diameter and width, the 15X7's just aint cutting it for me on the corners. I've found several that I like, but they only make them for imports. Anybody got any leads? I still can't decide if I want to go with 18" or 17"...maybe a combination.
