Post pictures of your window tint!
I'm getting my windows retinted soon because it's starting to peel. I have the original reciept from the previous owner from 1999, but I can barely read it and as far as I can tell it doesn't say what percent I have. I believe it's 35%, since that's the legal limit. I want it darker, I'm thinking 20%. So post up some pictures of what you've got!

that is the same tint on both my cars in the pics..my friend did them for me and it is not normal auto film. it is used for office windows and stuff. it is a 25% mirror film. it is not that crome cheap crap you see on cars. on a rainy day or over cast day you can see how you can not even see in the windows but then depending how the light hits it you can see in to. i always get compliments on it all the time but it is horrible when it is first put on. it takes a while till it looks good but its all worth it in the end. when he puts it on it has bubbles all over and with it being reflective it makes it look worse. but after about 2 weeks when it dries all the bubbles go away...it weird...lol.

Re: Post pictures of your window tint!
thanks for the compliment on my car. the wing is aftermarket. you can get it at hawks third gen for i think it was 300 bucks. its the 5 inch wing. but beware of the wing. some people have had no problems with the wing and some like me got a piece of crap and had to do quite a bit of work to get it to look good. as far as cops go no. i had one who didnt even think it was tinted cause all he seen was just a reflection. didnt even realize it was tinted. it is a normal film that gets put on the window like normal tint but this stuff is not really intended for cars...lol it is a little thicker film but no difference on how it is put on. just takes longer to dry and longer till you can put the windows down. i can see pretty good at night out the windows. if you look at the one pic of my scion you can see through the front window and out the passenger door window....you can see the differance. its kind of like a one way window. you can see out well but hard to see in...lol as far as the cost...my friend does all my stuff for free or for a case of beer...lol. but its 175 bucks for a car done like mine with that tint or any other tint. he doesnt charge more for the stainless tint. now if you have to buy a role of it i dont know if it cost more then normal auto film or not.

86IROCTERROR-that solar tint is badass....In rhode island they are REALLY strict on tint..our law is 70% light transmittance(which is nothing) I has 20% on my camaro..but within 2 years it landed me in court 3 times
. Do you have any info on that stuff..let me know

I had the same thing Bill has on my old GTA. When I do my Camaro, I'm going to try and get something darker on the sides but use 5% on the rear.

Re: Post pictures of your window tint!
They have this meter that goes on either side of the window, it sends a beam of light through the glass and measures the amount that makes it through. That being said, what has happened to me the past two times is that the cops will bust me for something else, like speeding or "traveling in a non-existent lane" and then will throw in the window tint ticket as well. That being said, the tint laws in PA are ridiculous. All aftermarket tint is banned, no matter what the percentage. Up to 70% factory tint is allowed on the REAR windows only. No tint is allowed on the front windows.

Re: Post pictures of your window tint!
Thanks for all the pictures guys. I'm working on getting the old adhesive off right now. Now I see why the tint shops charge $200 to remove the old tint, this sucks. I dug out the original reciept from the previous tint and it was 35% like I thought, so I'm going to go with 20% this time. I also finally got my car fixed from someone backing into me, so once I get the new tint installed, I'll post up some pictures.

Why is tint so illegal if its darker, What if some one has serious skin problems with the sun? I think its a reason for the state to make money. I know it aint that much.Just my oppinion

Re: Post pictures of your window tint!
yea you got it, thats pretty much it, they claim its so a cop can see if you have a gun or what not on you when he is walking up to the car, but my dad was in law enforcement and said, if a guy is going to shot you he will do it with or without drak tint, and with or without this rule and that rule its just a all around crap so here i go, im fixin to raise my flag....

Re: Post pictures of your window tint!
Im always down for dark tint, but check yur local law for tint % before you re-tint.
Most cops won't harass you un less theres something shady bout your car, or if they have nothing to do, or if their a rookie that jus graduated hahaha.
Like I say "ITS LEGAL TILL YOU GET BUSTED" & " IF YOU CAN'T BE GOOD, BE GOOD AT IT"

Re: Post pictures of your window tint!
I am sure that the tint laws are to get money, but how many people do they actually get to nail on it? I would bet not very many. Think about it, if you are a cop walking up to a car, would you feel comfortable not being able to see the drivers movements? The driver could be loading a shotgun for all you know.
I honestly don't see the point in 5% tint. How good can you see out at night? Its not like someone is aiming the sun right at your side window all day and if any light comes through, your car will melt.
I am going with 35% tint on the side windows. It cuts down on a lot of sun, but won't cause to many problems seeing at night. I am also putting louvers on the back instead of tint. A bit more pricey, but looks good too.

I know that 20% smoke & 20% stainless are awsome espicially when its overcast out side , you can't see in the car unless you walk up real close. I have had 20% stainless with 5% behind it. Its like driving with a mirror, people use to hate me driving in the sun...hahha, sucks to be them.....

I'm lovin' those rims, I think the tint looks kinda weird with the gold emblems though, But still man, nice car.
