How many "White" paints are there anyway?
Hey all. Well, at some point i want to get my camaro re-painted white again.
The thing is, i don't know what white i want. There are several diffrent white cars out there, i mean, look at a artic white 4th gen camaro, VS say a white ford F150.
Anyone here know of a factory white paintjob which looks sweet, so i can compair it to what i have now? or can a automotive paint shop give me a good sample of their various paint colors, which will be very close to what it will look like on my car before they paint it?
I know people spend upwards of 8 grand for nice paintjobs, but i wonder if that much attention can be put into just a white paintjob, to make it look much better than just a basic white paintjob.
Hell, as long as it looks nice, and can be waxed to a shine, thats all i really want.

you could always go with a pearl over the white for a nice extra touch. my uncle has a lavender pearl over white on his vette and it looks killer. But if you want to see color samples go to an auto paint shop and they should have books filled with colors. If you have a specific color you want (know the manufacturer and year) they can usually give you all the colors available for that car line (i.e. GM) for that year.

yeah, the pearl is a transparent coat that only can be seen at certain angles, like when looking at a pearl you can see certain colors at certain angles. The only difference is that it's (usually) only one color (the rest of the time of course it'll look like the base color. It's mostly a custom thing, but a lot of new cars are coming out with pearl coats. It looks killer. Go check out a local car show or two, most likely you'll see one. Pictures are almost impossible to get to come out right, so that'll be your best bet.
My uncles Buick Riviera Supercharged has pearl white one it and it looks amazing. I have also seen a Honda civic painted like that. I would definately paint my car that color it looks really classy. If you are going to spend the money you don't want anything cheezy. My uncles is a factory GM color. I think it is a 97 riviera if you are looking for the color. I looks like a pearl with 4 wheels HAHAH.

Im thinking of checking out a local Earl Scheib shop to check out their perl coat jobs.
Anyone have any URLs with pictures of perl paintjobs? I like the blinding white my car is now, i just would like it to be a bit more shiny, or glossy i should say.

I am pretty certain that Earl Scheib doesn't do pearl. That would require employees that actually know how to paint, as well as clear coat type paints. Pearl is more of a medium to high end paint process. It is a colored microflake that is added to clearcoat. You can add more than one color to the clear. The more pearl you add to the clear, the more it can be seen. You should also apply several coats of straight clear over the pearl, for colorsanding purposes. If you colorsand the pearl coat, you might get a blotchy look if you don't sand very evenly, plus you'd be removing your pearl.
As for white, I also used Artic white on my stripes on my Camaro. It is a late 80s+ GM color (I got my code from a pickup). It was the purist white I found when I was looking.
