The hood is here...
The hood is here...
Ok, my Twin Turbo, finally arrived today, and i want to get it on as soon as possible. I know i have to sand it down to make sure it fits correctly. It also said to put it on the car, because the shipping may have caused some distortion of the fiberglass, so it has to be exposed to sunlight and the running of the engine. Anyway, does anyone have any tips as far as installing the hood? By the way, i'll try to get some before and after the paint job pics. Thanks

IT IS NOT TOO HARD OF AN INSTALL JOB. TAKES ABOUT 30-45 MINUTES INCLUDING REMOVAL. DON'T NEED THE ENGINE RUNNING. I PAINTED MINE OFF THE CAR. SEEMED LIKE LESS CHANCE FOR OVERSPRAY AND STUFF. ALSO USED SOME KIND OF SPECIAL URETHANE PRIME ESPECIALLY MADE FOR FIBERGLASS OTHERWISE I WAS TOLD IT WOULD HAVE LOOKED DULL. LOVE THE TURBO LOOK. ONLY BETTER HOOD IS THE NEW THIRD GEN SS HOODS.
ONE CAUTION: TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE IT IS BOLTED GOOD AND THE HOOD LATCH LOCKS. EVEN AFTER YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE DOES OIL CHANGES AND THE LIKE. GLASS HOODS WILL FLY BACK VERY EASY IF NOT LOCKED PROPERLY!!

Man you need ground FX in a bad way, what is that a Sport coupe.... anyway, even though i just ....ed you off, ill sell you my jet black 88 Iroc ground FX when i get the 91 92 Ground FX
Ground effects? who needs them, all they do is look pretty and creat more air resistance.
If your lucky your fiber glass hood might not need any sanding at all, except for the turbo holes. Mine fit in perfect on the first try, I only had to adjust the attachments twice and I was done.
The Twin Turbo is a sweet hood, I like watching the heat vapors escape when my engine idles at a stop light. Anyway, one other thing I did with the hood was put metal wire over the holes on the inside of the hood and attached it with epoxy(bad spelling). That way small animals and other objects won't fall into my engine compartment.
Lastly, I was curious if anyone has every tried putting a hood scoop on fiber glass.

Thanks, i was gonna ask about the holes, and what i should use to keep unwanted objects from getting in there, lol. Anyway, do you have any reccomendations as far as to cutting the holes? I want this hood to be perfect. Any suggestions are appreciated. By the way, i love your car. The paint job is by far one of the most original i've seen.
