Reverse opening hood?
Has anybody here mounted their hood's hinges to where it opens in the opposite direction, like on the Corvette's? Can you post pics? Where did you mount the hinges?I'm doing this when I get my new hood later this summer and any help might save me some trouble.

To make it work correctly, it will take alot of fabrication. Probably easier to get a whole front clip that opens forward. Also, a PITA to work on. Spend your money and time on making it faster.

Well a lot of the lowriders use the mid-80's style Buick hinges to do this. They are off a Le Sabre, because on these cars the hood opens forward but it is differnt than the Corvette. It comes up and then slides/tilts forward a bit instead of just tilting forward. The front on our cars are longer though so it might not work. It would definitely be a project.
I assume you are talking about something like this. Definitely a lowrider and not my car. It's one that goes to the local shows. I'll probably see it again this weekend and can take a closer look to see how they did it and post back and let you know what I can.

Yeah! Like that! I think that looks cool, should have come from the factory that way. I know it wont be an easy project and that's why I was asking if anybody here has ever done that, to save me some trouble. I'm going to do it, even though it wont be easy. I mean, if you never put any time or effort into anything then what are you gonna have?

I think that it is a cool idea too... I really like how the Vette hoods open the opposite way, but I think on an F-Body, it would be more work than it is worth.

It'd definately be cool... now, who can do one that opens to the side?
I envision something with cris-crossing wires... ever play that Rubix game.. not the cube, I think it was called "Links"? Each panel in the Links game could fold to the left, right, front, or back. That'd be btchin'... a hood that could open any way you wanted it.
Er, of course, I think the metal wires would stretch over the engine, making engine work impossible, so, never mind...
