Bringing shine back to worn GTA crosslaced rim HELP!

Ok so my 88' Trans Am came with GTA charocoal rims on it. But my dad decided to clean them after sitting in the barn all winter with a small sos pad and left small scrathes on the polished lip causing them to look dull and faded. What can i use to get the surface scrathces out and make them look shiny and bright again? Also how hard is it repaint them youself. What grit sand paper will i need? any adive is appreacited!

Ok well i just recieved my other crosslaced rim from Foward540 yesterday. Came off an 86 T/A that was in a junk yard so the rim was very dirty and even has small rust dots everywhere. Cleaned it the best i could but how can i get those dots off the polished lip without stripping it? ill take a pic so you all can get a better look at the rim.

If you don't want to mess with the hassle of getting the tires and valve stems removed then check out what I did a couple of weeks ago with my newly acquired cross laces:

The first set of rims I stripped/sanded were a major PITA and took forever because I used the sanding technique. They were also the "salad shooter" Firebird wheels.

I think it was around $5-$6. The brush was about 50 cents. I bought 3 brushes but only used one.
