what wetsanding process u recommend for this single stage paint?
i'm out of black single stage and can't buy more due to the fact this is my second gallon of black due to the instruction being wrong on the can. i have 2 coats of color on and basically need to sand smooth so i can apply xtreme clearcoat. i keep reading about which different sandpaper to use , but they don't seem to apply to my screw up. what sandpaper do ya'll recommend for my problem. i have orange peel all over, when i layed my stripes i sanded with 320 for them to stick and didn't go through the paint, but even with 320 it was a pita to get smooth. that was on the hood though. the rest of the body doesn't seem as bad. but here's the pics of my situation and it single stage that i will apply clear over: help please

Yikes thats pretty bad. You need to wait a few days before you sand.
What exactly was the screw up??? How many coats of clear will you be applying?

How bad is the "orange peel"? Can you feel it on your fingers? If so, i would use 600-700 grit on a block, and lightly go over it until it "smoothes" out.
If you cant feel the grit on your fingers, then use 800 or 850 to scuff the paint, clean it up, and spray the clear. Spray within the flash time of the clear so you dont have to sand in between. And lay on as many coats as you can. You will get about 3 or 4.
Its not worth it to sand the base coat, so alot of people seem to be skipping that step now. If you sand the clear, you shouldnt have to worry about orange peel.
As for the screwup, if you got the paint mixture wrong, it wont last very long and should be redone. If you just got the spray setting wrong, sand paper should fix it.

i would start with 800 actually. it's too damn easy to sand through with 400-600. Start with 800 at the coursest. Then go over with 1200, then follow up with some polish and a buffer. Glass baby.
