Pics of my Z after extensive winter mods incl. SS rims.

Well, the Z had quite a winter. I had it laid up in my garage from the end of November to the beginning of May. I took my time and did alot of suspension mods. Here's a pic of the results:

Those are 17x9 Chrome 96/97 SS rims w/ Bridgestone Potenza RE730's. 245/45 ZR17 F, 275/40 ZR17 R. A set of SPD wheel adapters are behind the front wheels, and a 97 Trans Am rear end in the back takes care of the offset rims. (also gives me 4W disc brakes).

Other mods include:
-AGR steering box and pump
-MOOG BJ's, Tie rod ends, Idler arm, upper strut mounts, and Center Link.
-Global West S-9 front springs
-Guldstrand POLY control arm bushings and 36mm sway bar bushings.
-1LE front brake conversion incl. Autospecialty rotors and pads.
-Earls braided stainless brake hoses.
-BCA wheel bearings.
-KYB struts.
-Global West TS-14 steering box brace.
-ES end links.
-1LE aluminum driveshaft.
-Walbro 255 LPH fuel pump.

I think thats everything. I do have one more pic:

Thanks to everyone who helped me both in selection of parts, and all my 1LE guys who helped me track parts down. MikeH, Greg Westphal, Karl Hunter, AndyZ28, Dan Burk, and Steven Skipper. Lets have good summer everyone, and try to keep all 7K of our cars intact so we can work on them next winter too!

I do love blue and those wheels look great on the car. Looks like it was a lot of work and well worth it.

Awesome looking car Jason. Nice choice of wheels. I always wondered what my car would look like with the chrome SS wheels instead of the silver ones that I have on now. Now I know.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! jim91rs, check out tech central, theres a good tech article on 4th gen rear installation. It is actually easier than it sounds. Make sure you get some 89-92 rear disc e-brake cables. Thanks again everyone!

I bought the rear, bought fluid, and put it on. Direct bolt on. I didnt even get the proportioning valve yet and it feels just perfect. The only tricky part was the E-brake cables not fitting in the thirdgen slots. With some inventiveness and a little bending here and there it was about a 20 minute sidetrack from completion.

Smokntires,

To install 4th gen wheels on a thirdgen, you'll need 2" adapters for the rear, or install a 4th gen rear end. Keep in mind that if you have drums or crappy discs, swapping to a 4th gen rear could get you a better gear ratio, posi, and the better 11 5/8" rotors w/ PBR calipers. In the front you'll need 2 1/4" wheel adapters. You can get them from Andris Skulte at www.skulte.com.

If you have 1LE brakes, as I do, you'll find that 2 1/4" may be a bit too much. Contrary to other's belief, I have found that 1LE brakes do in fact move the wheels outward about 3/8-7/16". Good luck w/ your project!
