Pics of my girl all dolled up. Dial-up no way.

She's ready for her first real show today. Not perfect, but she's a work in progress. But after I got her all shined up the other day, I decided I might let the original paint stay on a while longer. No need in spending money when I think she looks this good! Photos were quick snapshots this morning outside of work. I can't wait to do some really nice photos of her. Let me know what you think!

New Hampton Vinyl seat covers installed yesterday! Check out the custom headreasts!

And here's a sweet little 16x20 "showboard" I made for the show today.

Thanks! I'm not looking to win anything. There will be over 300 cars there and the awards will go to the $100k+ Street Rods. I'm just looking to have a good time and show off my car a little.

I'm with you on that one. Taking my TA to cruise ins and local meets, I'm typically the only 3rd gen there. I'm usually parked by first gens or the occasional second gen or suped up fourth gen.

But there was a Roadrunner Superbird there last week.

Re: Pics of my girl all dolled up. Dial-up no way.

Wow. Thanks guys. It still has a bit to go before it's where I want it. Got lots of looks and lots of compliments tonight, though. Anybody notice the plug for TGO on my board? It wouldn't look, sound or run near as good as it does without you guys.

BTW, at this show: 3 first-gens ('68 Firebird vert, '69 Camaro SS, '69 Camaro RS) 1 second-gen ('81 Camaro drag car) 2 third gens (mine and a blown '87 Camaro drag car) 1 fourth-gen ('94 Formula t-top). Very low count on the F-body's.

Man, that car is nice. Just not sure I'm ready to let go of this one though. Your car + $10k would change my mind real quick though! LOL.

Yep. Nothing special here. It's got plenty of power for me. If I had gone with a bigger cam, better-flowing heads, etc. I would have had to change my stock TPI setup for it to be worthwhile. It doesn't make sense to throw all those performance parts on only to be choked out by the stock intake. And I love the look of my polished stock TPI.

I've seen it a time or two. It was actually the easiest part under the hood to polish (besides the water neck) because it had no cast to it. Only problem was I didn't remove it to polish. Could have done a much better job if I had, but I didn't want to go through the trouble of taking it off. I couldn't reach past the weld with even the smallest buffing wheel. All the AC lines just got a hard rubbing with some Mother's Aluminum Polish, and they came out great! No buffing wheels at all!

I polished everything under the hood myself besides the runners and the belt tensioner. Round stuff sucks to polish. But I sent everything down to H&H Polishing in Charlotte to get all of it a final "pro" buff. They were really cheap since all of the hard work was already done for them. Polishing sucks, but it's worth it in the end.

Yeah right!maybe take the k from behind that 10!! LOL!!

Re: Pics of my girl all dolled up. Dial-up no way.

Thanks for all the compliments, but if you could see some of the imperfections in the original paint, you probably wouldn't be so generous with your words. The previous owner let three piles of bird crap sit on it for way too long on the deck lid/tonneau cover and they ate through the clear. Clear is cracking a little on the rear spoiler. A few door dings. It's far from perfect. But, like I said in the beginning of this thread, if I can keep her shined up this nice, I think maybe the paint can wait a little while. I'd hate to drop a lot of money on paint and then be scared to get a scratch or two. That might discourage me from driving her too much.

Looks awesome. How much money did you actually have to put into this car? Did you have to repaint it?

Re: Pics of my girl all dolled up. Dial-up no way.

No repaint yet. I have approximately $12,500 including the $5600 purchase price in it. Paint and a new top will finish it off. They can both wait a while.

I love the car!!! The only thing I would change at all is I would probably have an exhaust shop make me a new intake tube in stainless steel to replace your stock black plastic one. It would really go great with all of the polished stuff! AWESOME T/A-C!!

Re: Pics of my girl all dolled up. Dial-up no way.

That's the next thing to go on. I have wanted one ever since I saw Kandied91Z's on here a couple of years ago. There is a speed shop (imports) down the street from where I work that had a mandrel bender. I've already checked with them about bending some pipe for me. I haven't had any luck finding pipe (I'd like at least 3.5" ... anybody got any suggestions on where to find that?), and I also haven't measured for my bends. And I can't decide whether or not to run it to my stock air box or stick a cone filter on the end.

Does anyone know if you can buy the pipe already polished, or is it going to be more elbow grease for me?

All this polished stuff requires a lot of maintenance. I'm glad this isn't my DD!

i really like those tips those are sick nasty
Thanks! Picked them up cheap on Ebay. And they are stainless (or so they were advertised ... time will tell lol). I didn't care too much for the monstrous quad tips that came with my Hooker catback. I think they look killer on some third gen's, but not the 91-92 Birds. I've always loved the look of the early 4th gen Camaro tips, so that's the look I went with.

Re: Pics of my girl all dolled up. Dial-up no way.

I have all of mine (and my custom Radiator hoses) made at muffler shops. A really good one can do it. They will have access to the pipe. I have them use stainless steel but they can get chrome or nickle too. Just go to your local muffler shop. Let me know if you cant find the material, I couldprobably ship it to you, it's not too expensive. I usually have the stock air cleaner chromed and use the stock filters. Cone filters usually draw hot air from under the hood and thats not good. Silicone adaptors found at the import shops usually are good for making the connections.
I hope this helps!

Re: Pics of my girl all dolled up. Dial-up no way.

Definitely helps. Thanks. That was the reason I wasn't sure about the cone filter. Does anybody actually have any dyno numbers of stock setup vs. CAI with cone filter vs. filter straight on the TB? I wouldn't mind doing a filter straight on the TB and saying "screw it if I loose a couple of HP" because I think it looks nice and clean. I would catch all kinds of hell on here, though lol. If I do the exhaust-tube CAI, since the rest of my engine is polished/chrome/black, I wouldn't mind leaving my stock air box black. What size pipe did you use?
