Removing side trims.. Need some tips on removing residue
Removing side trims.. Need some tips on removing residue
So i just now noticed on my Camaro that 1 side has trims and the other side doesn't.. So i had a small debate with myself whether to keep the trim and add it on the side that doesnt have it or remove it all together.. I decided to go with the clean no trim look.. So i took off the other trim. Now heres my problem.. Theres a crusty solid residue left over and i dont know how to get it off. I tried to scrape it off with a flat head screw driver but the stuff is too thick and i dont want to risk scratching my paint even more. I want to know some SAFE tips on how to get rid of this stuff without messing up the paint.
Thanks!
Thanks!

If you can soften it up with the heat gun, go at it with some WD40. Keep the WD40 away from the heat gun, ok?

WD-40
Spray on, let sit, couple apps, wipe off.
Works great on all adhesive residue.
Flat head screwdriver---Whoooo.
Give me a hammer,crescent wrench,Bailing wire
Duct tape and WD-40 and can fix anything.

I use Dupont 3812 Enamel reducer. It's the stuff we use in body shops to break down molding glues for removal before paint. I still use it today. You can get it at NAPA and sometimes Carquest. Don't worry it will not harm the paint at all and it works wonders. Its the best stuff out there for what you are trying to do. If you brought your car into a shop that is what they would use on it.
Do not use a screwdriver to scrap!! Use a plastic or nylon scaper they will not scratch your paint.
