FINALLY a 3rd Gen Project!

I just started watching Horsepower TV on Spike and I was pleasantly surprised that their new project car is a 3rd gen! They're using a 92 RS with a 305 to make a good daily driver that's "easy" on gas and fun to drive.

Re: FINALLY a 3rd Gen Project!

I watched it today..just as hopefull for a huge build as you guys but fact of the matter is that I was pretty disappointed by the actual work that they did to the 305 TBI...the only improvement was 2 mpg 9hp and I believe 17 foot pounds of torque.. I was hoping that they would add some power adders or talk about a major swap..but anyways it was nice to see a thirdgen on tv

custom cold air intake..relocated the battery to the back...replaced all fluids with full synthetic Royal Purple, lower thermostat I think...Throttle Body spacer...thats about it I think..they gained 9hp, 2.1 mpg, and 17 foot pounds of torque so far...there are still two more stages/episodes on this I believe...

Re: FINALLY a 3rd Gen Project!

Did they state that their was a gain in relocating the battery to the back? Mine has been this way for a long time, but I did mine so that I could put the SLP CAI in its place. Did they do something similar ?

The reasoning behind the batt relocation (I believe) was so they would have a place outside the engine bay for the CAI filter.(drilled a hole in the battery tray) Its definately something I'd be willing to try before its all said and done. However the main reasoning for my hesitance is how hard would it be to jump the car off if ever needed....would make powering an amp much easier as there would be WAY less wire to run if mounted in trunk as well. Hmm... maybe I should think this out a bit more....

It also makes it illegal to run at NHRA tracks due to the rules where if you relocate the battery you need a battery cut off switch placed at the rear at the car. Makes it really a pain to relocate, and imho a bad idea in a car like that.

However, I have no idea what a Thirdgen on HorsepowerTV has to do with A&D so I am closing this thread.
