so on Sunday i was driving to my aunts because me and a buddy of mine where going ice fishing we get there and about 3 hours went buy didn't catch anything so we started to head back and about 4 miles out of town when service engine light turns on so i was like alright so i took it easy on it and started to go 50 in a 70 then all of a sudden my car dies i pull over and black smoke starts rolling out of the hood so i get out and ashes are fallen from the back of the engine and then just went up into flames ;( i freaked out called the fire dept and told them to get there and i gess they went down the wrong rode and took them a half an hour to get to me. They said they inspected it after words and said that the catalytic converter started on fire. so now im in collage with a crappy job and no vehicle

May she rest in peace....
How did the passenger rim get so mangled? It looks like the entire outer section is just gone! I don't think a fire can do that?

Re: verry sad story :(
Very sorry for your loss. That sort of thing makes me sad. Thats always been one of my worries. I've had one car catch fire before. It was just a beater though. Ever since then i carry a fire extinguisher in all of my vehicles.

Re: verry sad story :(
damn! i plan to carry a fire extinguisher in my car, i have heard to many people losing there cars to match size fires that grow out of control in such a short time and they all wished they had spend the money on a extinguisher. . . i was in a car with a under hood fire once. we had an extinguisher by the time we got to it, the fire started to burn the under hood insulation and flames where creeping up from under the cowl a pull of the pin and a few sweeps put it out. . . im fearful of that happening to me one day but i hope im best prepared for that if it should ever happen . it sucks to see a thirdgen die by fire
especially a vert and its got to be one of the worst feelings to stand there and watch it go up in flames with nothing you can do

If its hot enough it can. Notice his hood is also mangled from the heat. And sorry bud that really blows. I hope you find another one.

Re: verry sad story :(
i gess my cat was plugged up and was gunna get it fixed soon just didn't have the fundings, i first realized it when there was a little blow back in the engine just a bunch of soot and such, but yeah it started at the cat and i guess it just worked its way to the engine got the stuff on the hood and then as soon as it hit the top it was completely went up into flames. The cop just sat there next to it while we waited for the fire dept come took them for ever and when they put it out it looked like this and they towed it up on a flat bed and we pritty mutch watched it go away. it was still smoking on the flatbed to!

i want to get another third gen but im gunna wait tell im more financially stable and im going to get a truck when i get enough for one, the incurence couldn't do anything about it since i only had liability

so latly i have been bumen rides from people to just get rides to work i just want my car back
