GETTING READY TO PAINT CAR

I'm getting ready to paint my car..would like to know what would be a good paint choice..my interior is all black..i was thinking of a dark blue metallic..with a couple of coats of wet clear..what would be a good brand to go with..and would it look good with black stripes over the blue..one solid or two small ones..give me some insight on this..this will be on a firebird..not sure how stripes would look... thanks

imron is the best. And as for trying to decide a paint scheme; buy a couple of snap-tite models that you can play around with, seeing it before you do it deffinately helps man.

Re: GETTING READY TO PAINT CAR

Don't want to be a thread stealer, but, I'm in the same conundrum... I've been pondering the stripes like a Ford GT40 has on the sides... Black Body with red Stripes... I duhno.
Well, Snowman, If your interior is all black, almost anything will work on the Exterior. Black goes good with anything, even more black. remember that Black shows all imperfections though, so, if you've got a dent, it'll be magnafied... Are your wheels chrome or black, or that Stock grey? Does your Engine bay have any Attention grabbing colours? what colours your engine block? Just some food for Thought...

Not sure how much you are looking to spend on paint.PPG makes an econmy line called Omni.Summit also just started selling paint the PHR mag painted a car with and they liked it.
As far as the dark blue with black stripes...well Im not so sure there will be enough contrast for the 2 colors. You could do white stripes with the blue or even a gray if you wanted to stay dark.

Re: GETTING READY TO PAINT CAR

Get a photo of your car. Then get some tracing paper and a thin tip permanent marker and trace your car(make sure you get all the details). The photocopy a lot of copies. Then once you have a bunch of copies of the same one start coloring like you did in a coloring book when you were young. Then you have a bunch of different drawings that are all the same and it will help you with your decision. That is the only way to do it.
