KLEEN WHEELS dust shields... I use them on all my GTAs. They just fit inside the rim next to the wheel.... and you have no more brake dust problems.

Some people have said they don't allow heat to dissipate from the brakes fast enough, but mine are vented and I've run them for years with nary a problem.

Simple as that.

i don't know who makes them, or if you can get them for third gens, but in a keyparts catalog i saw brake pads for imports that are a really light grey. it claims that the brake dust doesn't show up on rims.

go to www.calcarcover.com I think that's who makes the brake shields.

EDIT: yep, that's who has them, in the catalog they're listed as $34.99 for a pair or $64.99 for a set of 4.

Wayne-

I have the exact same rims as you, mine are actually off a 1992 Z/28, but I have the white-trim, and it is a BITCH to keep em clean!!

I wash my car on Sundays....by Tuesday, my rims are dirty.....it's ridiculous, I'm in the process of looking for some stock 88-90 IROC rims to slap on there instead..but I love these rims alot, they look really good (when they are clean) :-D

i'll solve all the problems.... either A: buy some good quality brake pads (the kind that have less brake dust) and yes these are available at any advance auto parts or such...just ask em and they know... and B: EAGLE ONE makes a sort of "rim polisher" kind of stuff... i believe it is called NEVER DULL and it comes in a aluminum can and u can buy this anywhere... u clean the rim with this stuff(and it takes off EVERYTHING) and then buff it back off and your wheels look like BRAND NEW!!

Go to Pep Boys and get "Raybestos Quiet Stop" brake pads. I get more normal dust on the hood than I do on the wheels now. I tried about 6 different brake pads before finding those. I think these pads are fantastic for daily driving and I love the no dust no squeak benefits. I've been running on them for more than a year.

I second the opinion on Raybestos pads. I used to have the same problem with my wife's blazer until someone on this board mentioned the Raybestos pads. I don't think I got the quiet stop ones though. I cant remember which ones they are. I think they are the semi metallic, semi performance ones or something like that. Reguardless, brake dust is now history. In fact just like a previous poster said, the car gets dusty before the rims do now.

I had my brother make me some brake dust covers out of sheet metal, he works for an AC company and has access to it free. I sprayed primer on them and painted them black. You can't really tell they're on the car, but it does cover up the old look of the brakes. So far they work great.

Those dust sheilds are available a most doscount parts stores, at least around here.
Right there on the shelf, around $15/Pr, sizes for 13, 14 & 15", haven't seen any for 16", I just use the 15", works like a champ!!

Get the better pads!
They won't cost you much more than those dust covers and in some cases may even be cheaper!!

I had cheapie pads on my car and the rims were black by the end of the week.
Now since I've grown half a brain, I switch to the better pads and I can go several weeks before I even need to think about touching the rims.

I had those dust covers also, about ten years ago.
They worked well, but they look like crap when the black paint starts to peel off of them in about a years time.
Be very careful if you use anykind of wheel cleaner around those dust covers!

Been there!
