Aluminum wing on the bird

I was just wondering how everyone thinks this would look??? I mean, it's almost like the stock firebird wing, but it's aluminum, and it hangs over the decklid just a bit. I think it'd look nice, and they are dirt cheap. Any opinions?? let's keep the "rice" comments out.

Yea, i was looking on the nopi web-site, and they have universal ones for about 160 bucks, and fully adjustable drag stlye for like 300!! It's a hefty price, but i think it'd look good on my grey firebird. If anyone actually does it, lemme know. i may just get the 160 dollar one, it looks like it'll bolt right in to the old spot.

As un4givin89 posted somewhere else and I much agree. "NEON LIGHTS under the car, some neon tubing around your dash, some FORMULA stickers on the car, and like some gold rims would be awesome. SOME BIG SHINEY GOLD EXHAUST TIPS, maybe paint a strip around the rear end. Tint the windows get some racing seat belts. Get tires that stick out about 3 inchs with low walls. And like get some mad *** sub woofers in the back. GEt one of those little crown air fresherns for the dash.
oh oh oh you know what else would look cool gee, a tpye R sticker and maybe some red seats with yellow floor mates". Thanks un4givin89 I couldn't have said it better "

Hey rev, good job man Glad to see some people have imagination. I think i'm going to get the wing from jegs or jc whitney, i can't remember where i saw it last night. It's aluminum (of course), with carbon fiber endlets. Only 5 in. high. Looks nice. And only 159 bucks Plus i think it'll look nice on my grey bird, it's almost like the stock one, except longer and taller, so i dunno where all this rice crap is coming from.

Later, Mike

Small that wing! haha...I think the one I"m going to get is like 10" high. Plus I'm goign to put a wing that extends out to my fenders. So I need a 63" wing..

HMM OEJ how about you go back under tthe bridge.

and that black TA would look better if you angled the front of the wing down more a bit but its a good start.

Holy crap! "Lets get it on".

Those big aluminum wings look stupid on any car. They would really look out of place on a third gen. I think they are made for sport compacts. Get a high rise Z28 spoiler or something that doesn't look so strange.

Why are there so many morons out there that own third gens. You guys are the idiots that make me want a 69 camaro. Do you see anyone try and put a freakin machined aluminum on there cars?
Hmm, let me see. Today I'm going to make my camaro look like all the other stupid sport compacts out there. How dare I be different from the in crowd.
These idiots that want to make all these mods to there car need to go to an F-body convention, I think they might change there minds. If not they sould sell the 3rd gen and get a freaking civic already.

Instead of buying the spoiler why dont you buy a plane ticket to Japan or something? That just doesn't belong on the type of cars we have. It's as simple as that.

That's simply a terrible idea. It doesn't fit the lines of the car. Never has and never will. It's a carry over from the import scene... thus the terrible idea part.

And whoever said neon lights are 'hot rodding' and not rice should get his head examined. That's just what I want... a '32 coupe with neon lights and a Honda engine transplant.

Umm ok. Whoever said "not being like the crowd". You need to examine what you said. I'm being part of the crowd for wanting to change the appearance of my car??? YOU are being part of the crowd by not doing ANYTHING and making it look the same(get it??). All you guys who down "new" things(and deem it rice), do the same things people have done to these cars for years. high rise z28 spoiler, the same rims, the same everything. True it may look good, but it gets boring, where's the individuality of the car, if 500 people have one that is exactly the same??? Your so scared to try something new, that when something does look good, you crap a brick. How will you know if it looks good until you've put it on and seen what it looks like??? Variety is the spice of life i believe they say. And if you look closely, that wing is almost EXACTLY like the stock firebird spoiler!!!! It's just 5in. high, and it's aluminum. Is it the aluminum part that throws you guys off or what?? What's the big freakin' deal. Is it because it's been found on some imports that you can't stand it???? Mo-rons!! If imports started putting 383's under the bonnet would you say that was rice??? Simply because they do it??? This is all crazy. And who wants to go to japan, i hate sushi. Just think if honda put their creative energies into making a vtec v8. If they can squeeze 285(i believe) horses out of a 4cyl.(S2000), just think what they could do to a v8. American "muscle" just isn't what it used to be. Everyone go to holden.com.au, click on HSV cars, download the commercial, and you'll see how GM is screwin' everybody over. I give up

Don't start crying cause people don't like it. You asked for opinions, and people gave theirs. You had to have known when you posted the question that you were gonna get people totally against it. Its an ugly wing, so I'm gonna say its ugly before I see it on the car. I can't think of ANY car it would look good on. If you don't want bad opinions, DON'T ASK FOR OPINIONS.

Yea, you know you may be right. Your opinions are your opinions, no matter how wrong they are.

I guess close-mindedness will prevail no matter where you go. I just hope none of you are automobile designers, otherwise american cars would look.......well......like they do now. Now, a show of hands, who thinks stream-lined vehicles are a bad thing???(all of you against modding a thirdgen's appearance should raise your hands now)

How does a spoiler stream-line a car? All it does is create more turbulent flow off the rear of the car and (at HIGH speeds) creates some downforce.

why a FWD import needs downforce on the rear tires is beyond me

Your opinions are your opinions, no matter how wrong they are
k, if you didn't want these wrong opinions you shouldn't have asked for them. What's the point in seeing what others think if you already are dead set on doing it?

Ok, everyone is starting to sound like little kids. This board is to help people out when they want advice on building there 3rd gen. Everyone has stated there point, we all know everyone on this board hates ***** cars, now shut up already. I love my 3rd gen as much, if not more, than everyone on this board. I happen to think anyone who is against this ***** style should just say there part, nicely, and then shut the hell up. Just because you don't like it, does not mean you have to knock it, grow up people. If this guy likes the wing, and you don't just say, I don't think it will look good, don't fu@ken gripe about it over and over. I happen to like it and I know a lot of f-body owners who would also like it. Remember its all about personal style, not trend or fads. If you people cannot open your minds to a new style, then your in serious need of an attitude adjustment. Not to flame anyone, or to start any ****, but hell, if you have nothing good to say, then say nothing at all.

Camaroboy, I think the wing will look good on your ride, in fact I am even thinking about selling my 92 Z28 wing for a style similar.

I said my opinion nicely, and then I shut the hell up. But then he crys about how he doesn't like the opinions so I had to comment. And about our opinions being wrong.. opinions CAN'T be wrong. You have yours, I have mine, everyone has theirs. If YOU like it on YOUR car, go for it and don't worry about other people.

hmmmm...i guess the 405hp Z06 and Vipers are "soccor mom" slow. Why own a 3rd gen Fbody, if you are a honda faucker?
Oh yeah, the aluminum spoiler WILL look like crap on your car, cuz a yellow 91-92 camaro around here has one.....and you can obviously guess it looks like total monkey sheet. Made me wanna throw feces at the owner.

Actually, I can visualize just fine. I don't need to see it to know what it will look like.

And if you look closely, that wing is almost EXACTLY like the stock firebird spoiler!!!! It's just 5in. high, and it's aluminum.
... and the number 2 looks just like the letter S except it's backwards and the bottom is straight instead of curved, and it's not in bold text.

Ok guys, sorry about the crack about "opinions being wrong". It was said in jest anyway. I did want comments, just the rice crap gets annoying. I think dude said it best when he said if you don't like, say you don't like it, and be silent. ANd personally I have no preference for automaker, everyone has their ups, and certainly their downs. HOnda, Chevy, Pontiac, Holden, Mazda, and even Ford, i like 'em all.

Hmm, maybe i should add a parachute on the back, just to complete the look It'll go real nice with the stock rims and stock ride height, and well....everything else which is stock

Guys, if you don't like the idea, that's fine but, at least try to keep the anger/head bashing comments at a controlable level. You can get banned & if you keep it up, Thirdgen does have every right to eleminate this forum and I doubt anyone wants that to happen (again). Just try to keep the negative comments/hateful replies passive, it's not that tough. Just describe, in a calm manner, why you think the idea, thought, or pic looks bad or good, that's more helpful at persuading than slinging names & hateful comments.

I have to admit myself, I can't say I care for it too much on a bird. I do think it might look in place on a silver camaro w/a wide body kit (like the true IROC camaro race cars), black fat nascar wheels & out somewhere on an SCCA course burning up the track. But, it's all just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Thank you deadbird I think if people listened to that advice, the boards would be a happier place. And since you "calmly" explained how it would look, along with the nice pic, i don't think it'd look too hot myself now. However, on a camaro, he|| yes. Or a dropped bird with a shorter wing, that extended beyond the decklid.

And what's more, i'm going to look at a 92 purple 'maro tomorrow. WISH ME LUCK! Think you could put that wing on a camaro??

Later.

I say you should do what you want. If you really like it...then do it. I truthfully don't even like that wing on imports...it is just my opinion...damn I am only 16...and cant believe how some of these people are acting on this board. I would definitely laugh at any camaro or TA with that wing on it...but hey that is my opinion...hopefully I wont get yelled at for expressing it. I DO NOT THINK THAT THE UNDER THE CAR NEONS ARE RICE. I actually like them...but I do think that the ones inside can look quite tacky...if they are put in wrong...as well as strobes. Do what you want to your car...why do people care so much if the item isnt even put on thier car. I truthfully do not care about anybody's car but mine. As long as I am not the one in the drivers seat getting made fun of, I could care less. But if you really like something then you sholdnt care what others think...at least your being original...in an odd way in which I do not agree upon. Some people do not like the 4th gen spoiler..yet I think it kicks a$$. Truthfully...next time you post a topic questioning for an opinion...be ready for some that are totally opposite of yours. If you ask for opinions...then be ready for the worst and the best. It is a free world open to opinions...so just deal with the opinions of others. Everyone has a different opinion and different tastes...so dont criticize them for it...it is only nature. CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!It is all a matter of opinion...and remember the only rice out there is UNCLE BENS. If I wanted to put a big TYPE R sticker on the back of my hatch...why would you care?...your not the fool driving it...just sit back and laugh....by the way I would never do that...just an example. But any ways do what you feel is right...and what you like the best...be original...and if you like it dont worry about what others may think. Just make sure that you are able to handle all of the opinions.
