Welcome to the site!
Congrats on the good choice of car.
My 88 Camaro is my first too(got it at 16 and am getting close to being 18)

My first choices to make it look faster would be
1 Get an IROC hood (which I did)
2 lower it/give it a nice mean stance
3. Put 17" rims in the back and 16" rims in the front, it looks good IMO
4 shine it up and get some nice tint

Re: first car.

lol! "hole in the muffler?" I have never heard that one before. You need to get headers or a new cat back to make it louder. but If your parents don't want you having more power you aren't going to make it louder.

Re: first car.

Congrats on the 92 man. I just got my first camaro a few months back. As you get older, slowly mod it to be faster, but beware, it gets addicting really fast.

Re: first car.

I'm 16 and have a camaro i'm fixing up, i drive my grand prix around till then. But anyway, mine's an 88 iroc, i am getting it painted and i can't decide if i want it blue or red. But mine is an iroc it has the 5.7 in it, and the irocs had the hood with the louvers in it which makes them look badass. but you should get the iroc hood if you want yours to look tough

I just painted my car, and before I did I jumped on an opportunity to get an IROC hood+louvers for $100. Man am I happy I made that decision! changes the attitude of the whole car!

Re: first car.

i wish i could get a good deal on getting mine painted... I don't even have a job yet i'm trying but no one is hiring. I'm doing my interior after i get mine painted too, i'm keeping it all original just getting new seats and stuff. It's gonna be the same kind though, just new

Re: first car.

yeah i'm not in a big hurry with the paint or interior
cause i got it in amazing condition and the metallic blue paint is perfect
so this is mainly personal preference it doesnt really need it.
but my full list of mods i want to do
new hood,
paint it black with orange race stripes
new chrome pedals
new guages all chrome
new dash
new headers
cool air intake
new exhaust
drop it a couple inches
16' front rims 17' back
new shifter
new racing seats with 3 point seatbelts
new grant gt racing wheel
and eventually a complete engine swap
but all this will take years
hahaha i'm aloud to dream right? lol

Re: first car.

congratulations on the new car man!....this is my first third gen...im 19 going on 20 tho...ive had alot of fun cars before this one tho...this is my favorite tho. Either way man have fun and enjoy the car, but be safe. As for getting it to sound good i would get a high flow cat and exhaust. Is your car a 305? or is it a v6?....either way dont get flowmaster cause it doesnt flow well at all...magnaflow makes the best sounding and flowing exhaust but dynomax is a very good price and does sound pretty good(if you have a v6 like i do). I did a high flow cat and full cat back exhaust on my 91 and it sounds like big block around town if you drive it in second gear(i dont make this a habbit at all but its fun when i do it) but it also has little to no drone at highway speeds. When you were talking about cutting the mufflers off thats just a bad idea. First off yes it would be louder but it would be VERY loud and very annoying at highway speeds...also not very good if you ever drive at night(alot of ppl including cops will be watching you)

Give it a few weeks/few hundred dollars, you can surprise yourself. I sure did.

Re: first car.

First of all, yes, spending money on machines can be very addicting.

Second, don't rush anything because it will look/sound/run like something rushed. You don't wanna be one of those car guys I laugh at.

Third, research, this site is probably the single most important tool for you to use because its all been done before and its documented, explained, polled, and reviewed on here.

My first car was a 92 RS as well. If you have any questions PM me.

Welcome to the rest of your thirdgen life. Kiss your paycheck good bye.
