Wow - those are pretty bad. I might hunt eBay, thirdgenranch, hawks, or somewhere for new ones. Otherwise, if it were me, I'd cut away the leftover rubber and paint them black.

Re: hatch needs to look pretty
trim the gunk away, tape around the heads with painters tape (on the glass) sand with some 320 grit, vacuum up any dust, wash the car with plenty of water to keep the rust dust away. Wipe the heads with a clean lint free cloth and some paint thinner or mineral spirits/alcohol. tape around everything, cover your roof and fender with a sheet and spray with Duplicolor Trim Paint in a rattlecan. Id also mask off the metal edge that goes around the edge of the glass, scuff with 600 (wet this time) and 2 very light coats of the trim paint.

Re: hatch needs to look pretty
they look pitted beyond repair. just get some different ones. taking the hatch off isn't that hard, do it right the first time.

Wow, that sucks. Should be able to get a set at a local junk yard. Much easier to replace them. The plastic covers probably eroded over time leaving the metal underneath to rust.

Check with 1ATony on here - send him a PM - they carry alot of Camaro Parts. Send emails to folks at www.hawksthirdgenparts.com, www.thirdgenranch.com and ask them. Also check with eBay sellers camarocentral, gmclassicparts, rachetman, am-autoparts - these sellers usually have alot of thirdgen stuff.

Did you check for Firebirds as well as Camaros?
The dealer would also be a good place to find one. They can pull up a diagram and get a part number and name that way. They can do this over the phone. Some dealer prices aren't too out of line while others can be excessive.

Re: hatch needs to look pretty
they look nasty , replace them . try and find new ones , replace one at a time . be careful , do one at a time . clean and go slow . use sealent , do not over-torque . you may need a new glass if you do . good luck .

Re: hatch needs to look pretty
Many places with Upulls sell hatches for around $30. We have had people that ended up throwing them out because they can't get rid of them and they take up too much space.

Re: hatch needs to look pretty
I have some new ones to replace the rusted ones on mine, but is there a trick to getting them off? I tried unbolting them, but they just turn and turn- I thought they would be locked into a square hole in the glass or some such...
Can someone give me some pointers on removing the old ones and installing the new(sealing, torque settings etc)?
