The best color for my bright blue metallic '86 Camaro is the original IROC Blue, and the best color for my medium orange metallic '88 IROC is '69 Hugger Orange. But then that is only my opinion, which is the point. Color choices are very subjective and personal. You need to choose something you like, and not worry about what everyone else has or likes. If you want stock colors, but don't know what was available, you can check out the readers rides section of this site, you can look at factory sales brochures, or you can go to an automotive paint store and look at their chip books. If you want something different, just look around on the street, go to car shows, or look through paint chip books (House of Colors has some very interesting colors).

That's my son starting this thread. He thinks he's getting my BLACK thirdgen. He's gambling that I will like this Blue '91 RS I am going to start working on in the spring. I believe BLACK is the best color. When clean they look awesome. And at night is the best with tinted windows. Many stares and compliments. Once you go BLACK you never look back.

QwkTrip...hey I love the color red of your car. I am thinking about what shade of red to paint my TA...I am considering a few..and one is the color of your car. Can you please tell me the name and paint code for your car. Do you know if Dupont paint is good?...because I know somebody who works at a paint shop...he is my age (16) and he said he will paint my car...and the shop will do the necessary body work. The paint job will only cost $150 because I know him...he said he is using Dupont paint....is it good? Should I risk paying $150? I have nothing to loose if you think about it..they are going to sand it, primer it, and wet sand it. They will use bondo and bang out the dents. Also...should I remove the door molding for a cleaner look? Let me know. What other shades of red would look good on my '83 TA('87 look-a-like TA). Thanks. Also..please try and post pics of cars with red paint jobs...along with the paint codes and names. I appreciate it.

For a 3rdgen Camaro, I really like dark blue.
I'm updating my 87 Z28 to the 91-92 body style and painting it admiral blue (maybe quasar blue) with silver heritage stripes.

Black all the way, and well, the color of my car is pretty cool too. Check it out in my signature.

Seems like black is quite the popular color. Personally, I like IROC Blue. It has a lot of metallicity (no that isn't a word) in the paint and really looks unique. Black does look good when it's clean, though.

well it depends on what you want to do with the car actually. If you plan on showing it alot do not go a very dark color. The 2 worst colors to paint a car is black and white. Both show dents/scratches very easily and unless completely spotless they look like a$$. Do yourself a favor and go to a auto paint store and look through their catalogs. Look through all the manufactures not just chevy/GM. I actually like alot of the import's shades of green over the GM shades cause the imports have more depth and reflectivity of light. I was actually thinking og a honda deep forest green with there platinum pearl as a paint job, with the green being the main color.
I have a '91 T/A that isn't the light/baby blue, and it's not navy either. It's original paint, and a VERY VERY BLUE, blue. Maybe it's the same as Iroc Blue, cept I don't know what it was called on the T/A's. Anyone know?

After seeing some of these beautiful black thirdgens, I'm almost convinced to keep mine and not get the red 1990 IROC... almost. After all, it IS a 90, and an IROC.. but its red and I love black thirdgens. Ugh, decisions decisions!
