So I open up the paper, and the title says "New missouri tinting law may cause headaches at inspection offices".. Basically the article says that the old law (no limit on back windows.. No tint AT ALL on front windows) is no longer in affect. The new law is 35% is the limit on all windows except windshield..
THATS JUST GREAT. Last year I payed $130 for a professional tint job at 5% on the back, AND IT WAS LEGAL.. NOW.. I have to get it taken off (costs more than putting it on) and then I have to get new defroster lines if I want to use it again... I CANNOT BELIEVE that there is no grandfather clause... The highway patrol is going to check from now on and so are inspection places... Around here you get pulled over for having a burnt out front blinker.. I can't believe this..
Any of you in missouri also upset about this?
Its not like I got a say in any of this.. Its such B F-ING S..

I'd talk to a lawyer about having the state reimburse your expenses. It's one thing to take a razor and scrape the tint, it's another to have to replace a defroster.

I THINK THAT IF IT ALL READY EXISTING BEFORE THE LAW TAKES EFFECT YOU WILL NOT HAVE A PROBLEM. YOU SHOULDNT HAVE TO TAKE IT OFF. BUT 35 PERCENT ALL AROUND IS NOT BAD.

Hey 92-fire
If i were you i'd be grateful to live in a state that allows tinting at all.
Here in RI its basically Nothing on the sides because my car is a 2dr coupe, and 70% on the back window. Just be happy you can go 35% all around, i'd love that on my car.

Was it todays paper?
Hey m3baller:
I don't think you understand where I'm coming from.
When I got the tinting done, it was legal, fair and square. Now they are saying in order for me to pass inspection and not be harassed by cops, I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT REMOVED.
The thing is, I wouldn't have gotten it done if it wasn't legal. So now all of a sudden they change it and I have to pay the bill. What happens if they change it to 50% next month? You see what I'm saying???? I'm not complaining that I can only get it done 35% now, I'm complaining because I have to pay to have it removed.

Yea, i'm pretty mad about it too. I went in to daylo glass down by my house and they told me as of august 24, 2001 they won't tint anything more than 35%, but the benefit was you could tint the sides now. I was lucky as to not tinting before this law, but i think that is some major crap you have to scrape it off if you already have it. It should be grandfathered in, but how would they tell if you were grandfathered in or not. But they should at least pay for the process of taking it off. I understand your anger 92 fire-audio, but maybe it will work out for ya. Good luck man!

Three words: class action lawsuit. Lawyers love that ****. I'm sure you could get enough people to put in their stories to get some checks cut from the state. It might even give you the satisfaction of getting back at the crappy lawmakers there. Which by the way, if you don't vote, you shouldn't get too upset about. That type of thing is what voting is all about.

They are gonna change it back within the year, that's what I was informed by several people with inspection licences since they were all sent notices on all of it.
