fourth gen wheels on a third gen

the topic pretty much says it all, but would the 96 z-28 wheels fit on a third gen without spacers? my friend has them and they look a whole lot better then my stock 15'' rims.

no, you need spacers. Or a 93+ rear end. And then spacers on the front. Otherwise they will be too far in.

Actually, from what the dealer has told me, you need rear spacers on all 82-92 f body model wheels. This is because of the rubbing which would occur if they were not there. I have not heard about the front spacers on the 93+ models.

Badred I am not sure as to which wheels you are talking about mounting on 3rd or 4th gens? But for the 4th gen wheels on a thirdgen you need spacers up front and in back as well unless you have a 4th gen rear. Same thing that Ions91 said.

Stock IROC wheels use little 1/8" spacers. To bolt up 4th gen wheels, you need 1" spacers, which are FAR too big to use with the stock lugs. Vettebrakes and Skulte make bolt-in spacers that maintain the necessary lug nut strength.
