I vote semi or satin. Match the headlight buckets.

Re: gloss stripes or flat?

I'm in the same boat as you when I paint my car. The flat would match the headlight buckets but I think the gloss would look better on the body - so that is what I voted. I am going to do a good gloss and clear coat so the entire car shines on mine!

Re: gloss stripes or flat?

If your wheels are shiny gloss, if you wheels are dull or satin, go satin.

I do not like the shape in your photoshoiop. Try and follow the body lines better.

Re: gloss stripes or flat?

Actually heritage stripes are designed to follow the lines of the hood blisters.

I was just sharing my opinion as I thought the post was asking for them.

Its no big deal, its your car so do as you please.

i like that, maybe not so wide for a camaro, but you've made me at least think about letting the stripes continue past the edge of the hood

Re: gloss stripes or flat?

ok, I'm going with the majority (as of right now) and going with gloss. I've got the stripes masked off, and I'm going to paint tomorrow. I decided to go with wider stripes going all the way down to the edge of the hood. They're wider, and easier.

In case I didn't say so, this paint job is just a temporary job until I finish my impala project. I've painted the gunmetal grey with rattle cans, and the black is going to be Duplnt lacquer that I've have for 20 years without any project to use it on. It was bought for the frame of the impala, but we ended up powdercoating it instead.

When the impala is done one or two years from now, I'll strip all of this off and start over with BC/CC

Re: gloss stripes or flat?

when I colorsanded the paint I recently sprayed, parts of it turned out blotchy. I have yet to figure out why sometimes I can get rattle can jobs to look great, and sometimes they look like crap no matter what I do. rather than repaint the hood AGAIN, I've decided to widen the stripes, and the Good Dupont lacquer I'm putting on it (from a real paint gun) will look much better than the rest of the car, so I might as well just go for broke and make them huge.

If I don't like it, I'll make them smaller when I put the real paint job on the car when the impala project is done

here's the pics of it taped up and ready to go... we paint tomorrow!

well, remember I painted with lacquer, I've actually never painted with BC/CC

if you want stripes though, I LOVE that pull out tape I bought

Re: gloss stripes or flat?

I think we can handle the BC/CC - shouldn't be too difficult... I hope... Looks good - can't wait to see it in person in June! I hope mine is done before then...
