what knight rider scanner to get

So i ordered a plasmaglow knight rider scanner, came today. Got home from work and unpacked it and wanted to throw it at the wall lol. Was supposed to scan side to side and only goes in and out like the mustang kitt scanner yuk. It also doesnt work under my hood where i was gonna mount it so im sending it back tomorrow. Anyone know of one that isnt to expensive that i can mount like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JDH4Ztze8k

Well, uh......yeah it looks kinda neat. But thats not the way it is supposed to be mounted. To do it "right" you would need a different nose on your car

Re: what knight rider scanner to get

I would email, send a private message, or however you get in contact with whoever posts videos on youtube and ask them where they got it from. That doesn't illuminate like any scanner I've seen. Usually 1 or 2 inch sections of the scanner light up at a time.

Re: what knight rider scanner to get

the one from the website you linked does look nice but wont work for the application im trying to get. I like how in the guys video it only shines thru the crack between the bumper and hood. Thats what i want, you dont know theres a scanner there till its turned on. His when you look close almost looks like one of those led strips attached right to the under lip of the bumper. But those things dont scan like that. Im stumped

Re: what knight rider scanner to get

thanks but not what im looking for at all. Im not trying to make a kitt replica with modified bumper just the light thats made to sit under the hood and glow between the crack. The company that makes them responded to an email saying they arent in enough demand to keep them stocked but they make them per order now. So im just waiting for a price.

Re: what knight rider scanner to get

I have that scanner (in blue) and it is the one from the United Kingdom link above.
There is no other like it that fit under the hood. I got mine a few years ago when they were still making them regularly.

Re: what knight rider scanner to get

That does look very cool. I'm impressed. It's a very nice thing to have if you're not in for an actual replica.

@thegoochking:
Would you mind posting how much they ask for if you wanna have one made? I'm very interested.

Re: what knight rider scanner to get

I emailed them also and their reply is below:

"
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your email and your interest in our lights. We can make a couple more lights for the 3rd Gen Firebird. We have the lens and circuits however cant seem to find the spacers and feet to allow it to be fixed to the standard fittings of the car. We can offer 15 GBP discount to supply the light without these fixings. Shipping is around 15 GBP to the states. There is around 1.5 US dollars to 1 GBP.

If you have any further questions please let me know.

Regards
Dan Potter

Re: what knight rider scanner to get

Years ago I custom fit the light JC Whitney used to sell into my Iroc-Z. It worked great! Now I'm looking to do it again! Let me know if anyone has the JC Whitney one with the control box that works and I'll buy it! Thanks!
