How to make IROC hood louvers shine!

I recently bought NOS GM IROC hood louvers. My old ones were ok but a little faded. So the new ones really are a matt black. I tried to polish them up a little and now they don't look too good. Any ideas on how to get a shine to them. Any products I should use? I've used Meguirs plastic polish, T-Cut and Mer so far!

Sand them down and spray them with a glossy black, Krylon makes a really nice line of plastic paints.

Would prefer to somehow keep them plastic- as I paid near enough $200 for them... Any way of getting the plastic looking new again?

Mine weren't new, but I painted them as well with a glossy black and they look great!

If you dont want to repaint and sand them. Go out and By that heavy tire wet gel.. i used to use that it stays glossy. but becareful with it. it can be quite messy but it,ll keep it wet looking for quite a bit

I have had excellent results with Meguiars Hot Shine. Only spray the applicator instead of the piece your working on . Stops over spray.

They never were glossy from the factory. In my opinion buying NOS parts was the best you were gonna get looks wise, without going the paint route. Let us know what you end up using.

There is a type of paint you can use thatll dye it, i was gonna repaint my interior plastics and a guy at a local paint shop said someone makes a paint that will soak into the plastic and basically re-dye it gloss black, you could try that.

Mothers back to black is a sweet product, very good at putting a gloss on the headlight buckets.

Re: How to make IROC hood louvers shine!

well you could either paint them or try what i did. my louvers were badily faded and pitted since it sad outside for 5+yrs and i just came up with this combo when i was restoring the paint. btw im using a big 10in buffer so a smaller buffer or dremel would be MUCH better. ok first i used turtle wax premium rubbing compound and did that really good, then used meguirs scratch remover, and then turtle wax ice liquid polish. they turned out nicely but still i should repaint them. i'll add later.
