center caps...

How do you polish the center caps to make them match the rest of a polished wheel?

I used to wax my windshield and windows, but it just fogged tehm over and got all over my wipers so they wouldn't work. Will the Mothers polish work on them without doing this? i might not have got all the wax off, but it was a PITA not to be able to see. Does the polish also make the water run off quickly?

Mothers won't make center caps (the outside ring) look almost chrome. I'm assuming I'm going to have to sand it... I heard you could do it that way... but I'm not sure which grit... A guy on here has some polished wheels... and the center cap included is almost chrome looking.

why not just buy the chrome caps; i can't see how your going to polish platic into a shiny luster but if you figure it out let me know because i would like to do that on some of my plastic parts!!

now i've seen iroc wheels polished, but they don't have much of a center cap. my center caps came with the wheels when they were chromed dipped, but i'm sure that any reputible wheel shop could order a set. problem is it might be a bit off from the polished section, that's one of the reasons i had mine chromed instead of polishing because of the large center cap.

I know there is someway to polish them. A person on here (Fbodfreak) had his polished. The center caps were polished as well. I'd much rather chrome them, but the cost is much much higher than doing a self polish.

Do you have pictures. The reason I say so is I think we have a difference in shine. I went looking for the picture of FbodFreaks wheels but his site is down. Without sanding the cast off, you'll never get a perfect mirror like shine. I'm not saying they weren't a little shiny... but I think we're confused between what were talking about. I show you what I'm talking about... going to find a picture.

Here some pictures of polished wheels. If yours look like this by just adding mothers, then retract all my statements... I apologize.

I tried looking for some thirdgen wheels but couldn't find any. As you can see, some of those look almost chrome.

My centers are starting to peel and its chrome/shiny underneath the gray crap. Try steel wool, may take longer but they wont be all scratched up.
