windshield Cleaning

its quite embarrassing yes. and also frustrating. But you could offer me 70 million dollars and i couldnt find a way to get my windshiled clean.. it looks great in the driveway. but when you face the sun in traffic you can see all the hidden streaks and i have to try and buff them out while driving this is terrible does anyone else seem to have this problem. ive been using terry clothes and invisable glass for years now

Re: windshield Cleaning

I recently tried Amour All Glass Wipes. Took several of them and some elbow grease, but I'm satisfied.

Could also try the white vinegar and newpaper trick - but I'd be careful of the vinegar on the paint - something about newsprint seems to clean glass well, although I don't know about todays "green" newsprint that uses soy based inks.

Re: windshield Cleaning

Are you trying to clean the outside or the inside of the glass?

Vinegar with a small bit of ammonia will remove the haze on the inside. Use newspaper to remove and buff.

Bon-Ami powder on the outside will remove the grime. Wet the glass and sprinkle some on. Take a sponge and lather it up. You have to scrub well. Rinse well. You'll know it's clean because water won't bead up on the glass.

Re: windshield Cleaning

i work at a car dealer so i get real good stuff to use free. I claybarred the outside to clear it up...amazing difference...I use nothing but foaming glass cleaner and the 4-ply towels they give us. I clean windows on up to 10 cars a day, never have streaks. I spray a light amount, wipe the middle of each window, then follow the outside edge all the way around. you tend to become methodical after doing this for over 2 years

Re: windshield Cleaning

I wonder if one could clean off any junk such as tree sap with acetone then go back over with another no streak window cleaner then top off with rainx. If here are any special coatings over the glass, acetone would probably be the worse idea. It does eat up anything lol.

Re: windshield Cleaning

if you smoke inside your car that could be why your still getting streaks, the smoke leaves a residue on the glass and its a pain to get off lots of scrubbing, and no more smoking for the streaks on the inside to say gone

Re: windshield Cleaning

I use rain-x no streak window cleaner on the insides of my windows. Always in aerosol can. Always in cool shady area never on a hot window.

Wash and wax on the outside finished with detailer. Streak free shine every time.

Iroczor is correct about smoking. If your not careful smoking does wonders ruining your interior.

Re: windshield Cleaning

I would give the foaming glass cleaner a thumbs up, but I would hesitate to use a wax on the front glass. I tried it, and the wipers hopped badly when it rained. I had the same results when I used rainex stuff. Just FYI.
