Tarnished Aluminum Wheels(solved)
When i first got my 91 Firebird my wheels where very tarnished and dirty looking and with the proper materials and tools i have them gleaming as if their brand new. These are the before and after pics. I think the difference is significant and could possibly save money in exchange for about 2.5 hrs a wheel. The material i used were a drill wit a fine wire wheel, which was use to remove the clear coating off the aluminum. Bucket of soapy water and 220 wet/dry sand paper, to remove and significant scratches made by the wire brush. The bucket and 1500 wet/dry sand paper to polish the surface and remove all blemishes. Dry then a bottle of metal polish and two rags.

yup it takes about 2.5 hours each but thats dependant on the condition on the wheels. and while your using the wire brush and drill to remove the clear coat keep in mind that te clear coat warms up and smears a little so you gotta let it cool off to rip if up.

Re: Tarnished Aluminum Wheels(solved)
just a thought , bare aluminum will corrode/tarnish pretty fast in normal conditions . clearcoat , wax , or something will be needed to protect finish . good luck .
