Who has Polished their TPI ?

Was wondering who else has done this. Im working on it as we speak - and I was curious if you all went through a LOT of the polishing wheels?? Also, did you use a Dremel only for the actual polishing, or did you use anything else...?

Thanks a lot!

I had mine polished at one point in time b 4 a got sick of the maintainence to keep it like that. I wet sanded and hand polished mine (mostly for passing time while I didn't have the $ to do anything else while it wasn't running)

Considering the problems I had that made me have to take mine apart so friggin much it wasn't worth it IMO, to me(plus everyone now is doing it). I only polished mine out w/o putting on a clearcoat or clear powdercoat, I can only imagine it would change my opinion alot about polished aluminum had I had the chance to do so. If you only polish them w/o doing anything else, you can look at it wrong & get it dirty then you'll have to repolish. My valve covers came polished but just the sweat from working on the car when the motor went in 'tarnished' them in a few places. It will take eagle one (w/jewelers rouge) & some work to get the affected spots out.

Done right, polishing can be very nice looking but, unless you're planning it to be a show car or just **** retentive, I don't think it's worth it for the 'oo-aah' factor. Personally, I've always wanted to have my TPI annodized blue, I love the mag lights that color. Just my opionion about polished intakes, don't let my bad exp's discourage you from trying.

This is not a great picture, but it shows mine. I have polished 19 TPI units so far and many other types of intakes too.

I'm trying to figure out when I do mine... if I was it clear coated or not. I think I'll get the bottom intake and the runners clear coated and maybe leave the plenum uncoated. Who knows.
