how to clean rubber in engine bay?

i got one of those elbow rubber air intake hoses for the air filter on my v8tpi engine.

its got that grid design and it looks dull and dirty.

whats the best way to clean it and keep it looking wet and more black instead of old and dull?

i'm only asking because im not sure what chemicals to use with the heat from the engine always heating up that rubber elbow

simple green works great for cleaning stuff safely under the hood. the only problem with trying to get a wet look is that its going to attract a lot more dirt and dust. otherwise, if you just want looks, any tire dressing should do the trick to make it shine without drying it out.

I also used simple green / greenworks to clean up my engine bay (and other stuff for that matter) Im asuming because it's completely organic, it has less of a detrimental effect on the older surfaces of our cars.
