I think I remember a post from you about this years ago. Do you have pictures of how you mounted the extended linkage/passenger side mount?

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
I cant remember ever posting about this, but who knows!I did this mod back in the early 90s.Long before i joined TGO.
Anyway, no pics.I used a driver side wiper arm(modified) & base.Plus an extra linkage to reach the pass side.Only using one nozzle, mounted in the center.

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
Details are a kinda fuzzy.I know the wiper arm is a driver side. However the angle is wrong when its switched to the pass side.So the flat piece has to be seperated from the lower half of the wiper. There is a rivet that needs & a strong a$$ spring that need removal.Once you seperate the flat piece, rotate is 180* so the angle is correct. If you dont do this mod the angle will have the wiper blade pointing up.
The base the wiper mounts to Im pretty sure is a driver side unit.I had to drill a hole on the pass side cowl to mount it.Plus three smaller holes for the bolts.Make a template of the mounting surface using the base. Then trace the template onto the cowl.
The extra linkage used is the same as the longer of the two already on the car.The side that connects to the original linkage has several small holes drilled so the adjustment can be dailed in.
The main problem when i finished, was the wiper arm had too much travel & the blade would swing past the B pillar & also slam in to the cowl.I remember having to change the length of the arm on the base.To reduce the travel on the wiper arm.I think a had to make the arm longer, but i dont remember by how much.I had to play around with different lengths though.
Thats about it or at least, all i can recall.

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
Got the second assembly today and did the 180 on the second arm. Drivers side base is round, pass has this piece that looks like a block for the arm( just making sure I'm using the right pieces) How do the two linkages hook together? Seems like everything still goes in the original directions.

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
Oh yeah, forgot about that.I had to remove the splined head by grinding of the top, then rotate it 180* as well. This is so the step on the head alignes with the notch on the wiper body.My base is mounted the same way as the driver side(2 bolts pointing out, single bolt inward). This puts the base at a good angle, but the step facing the wrong way.If you just rotate the splines 180* the arms for the linkage hit the firewall.
Your gonna have to play with the position of the step.Dont want it too low or high.Once you have the travel worked out.You can center punch the the top of the splined head.So it wont slip off.
On the linkage.I used a 1/8 bolt w/a nut.Drill one hole on the original linkage & 5-6 holes about 1/16 apart on the 2nd linkage. This is what i used to dail in the adjustment.
Probably more i need to remember.Ill take pics, its easier.

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
OK, seems i did things a little different still. The arm the link connects to is from the pass side wiper mount. The driver is a dual sided piece & this is a single.I probably had clearence issues with the dual sided arm.So i used the pass side piece. You can also see i shortend it, maybe 1/2 inch. This was done to reduce the amount of travel the wiper has.Other wise it swings past the b-pillar.Two bolts to hold the two halves inplace. This is wayyyy before i had a welder! You still use the round head w/splines as described above.

Wider view.

On the link it appears i used two bolts, instead of one. Also i slotted the hole in the upper link, instead of the 5-6 holes i thought i drilled. The stock link has just one hole. One bolt wont work, because the link will flex when the wipers are used.

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
Are the two halves on a 90*? I'm not a welder or a fabricator, so Im trying to make sure I get this right. This is my very first mod.

Two halves are cut, moded and ready to be welded. Can you post a pic(top view) of were the pass side is mounted. Getting ready to cut.

Make sure you have the correct length before welding it.Did you check the travel on the wiper?

No, it only works one way. That rubber cap has a steel insert.Pretty hard to bend it.

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
having issues getting this thing adjusted. Full up, wipers are fine. In the down or rest position, pass side goes into the engine bay before the drivers side gets to the down positon. Think it has something to do with the links under the pass side.

Did you make sure the arm is the correct length before welding it?Sounds like you have too much travel still.Which means make the arm shorter.

That's pretty cool. I might try to do that myself. You've got a lot of awesome mods!

Re: Wiper Mod- reversed
ya know what 1LE, I didn't do anything to the arm. Once hooked up I made sure it all had the right direction of travel. I adjusted the pass wiper so it was straight up with the drivers side. Turned the wipers off so they would be in the full down position and thats when the pass side travel was shot to he!!..... so I'm guessing I need to shorten the second arm 1/2 inch or do you have an over measurment of what length the second arm should be?
